We stopped here while just passing through, and it was so worth it! We’re from Texas, so we know good Mexican food — and this place is the real deal. We tried the tamales, tacos, and birria tacos, and everything was amazing. 🌮🔥

Ordered this place on Grubhub bc they were offering $4 off and I wanted to try lengua (cow tongue) tacos. Changed my mind and ordered tacos tripas (tripe) and absolutely loved it. Also ordered a burrito and guacamole. Came back and ate inside. The service is a bit unconventional but the food is superb. Very authentic. I’m not Mexican but I am very familiar to the culture. I hope this doesn’t offend anyone but I’ve been to quite a few Mexican restaurants in Hattiesburg but...

Shit Ventures XXV: La Mexicana, Hattiesburg, Mississippi. 5/10. Bathroom was in deplorable condition. Had to remove toilet seat from floor and carefully not shift my weight to avoid falling off; however, this was not the first sketchy thing l have had to do during dire circumstances and it certainly will not be the last. Toilet paper was high quality and bathroom was spacious. Only reason for 5/10.
