Best food I had in the states! Incredible that fried Mississipi Catfish with the jalapeño corn bread, and all the other side dishes like the deep-fried corn and green bean pickles and the hushpuppies? I honestly don't recall the name of that last one, but do yourself a favour and hop over if you're around. All the flavours complemented each other so well!

I worked a long shift had ordered food Mrs sefora took my order of 5 plates of chicken and shrimp when door dash guy bring food it was wrong we ordered chicken and shrimp we got fish and shrimp. We don’t eat catfish bevause it’s not a scaled fish. We was raised by old values. So when food got to Madison and my family seen it was wrong she asked to bring it back we only kept the shrimp out of a couple boxes because of hunger she never took in consideration of time or fuel once food got back she offered to remake the chicken not the whole plate. We ask for refund she made a big deal out of it. So just to let you know Cock of the walk in flora is not where to go if you hungry or want a great experience my whole family evening was ruined so thank u Mrs sefora for making your point that’s it’s not your fault the order was wrong and not making customer happy.

Horrible!!! the manager is VERY disrespectful. I missed a couple of items on my to go order call in to let them know. She said she fixed the order herself so everything was in bag. But we all makes mistakes. I’m a manger myself. And for her to be so disrespectful only because I’m telling her a couple of my items was missing is really bad for the business.

Did not have a great experience. I don’t like to write a bad review. Because if you didn’t know any better, it would be really good food. I think I’ve just had better food. The staff was friendly. The atmosphere was fine and I guess for a small town catfish and chicken restaurant with cheeseburgers it’s pretty good, but if you’re expecting a really good mealI keep driving.

Parking: Parking is pretty convenient. There’s not a whole lot of parking but there’s enough for lunch or a dinner crowd and small town.

My husband said it was the best Catfish he’s ever eaten! He used to travel a lot down south and ate catfish whenever he could. This hands down was the best. Everything was good! The cornbread in the cast iron skillet added to the meal.
We were touring the Medgar Evers home and asked the NPS employee where to have a great lunch. He told us to go there. He said he was from the area and his parents always took him there. Thank you NPS guy!
Well worth the drive and experience.

Parking: Parking was easy, lots of room outside the restaurant.

Kid-friendliness: There were a lot families there. Great place for kids.

Best food ever! As we travel through the south I think the food can’t get any better and then it does! Great place. The waitresses very friendly but somewhat unorganized. I highly recommend it!

It was my first time coming here last night with my parents and we were not disappointed at all!! When we first walked in, I loved the ambiance conveyed by the decor and the down-home feeling given off by the wood paneling and layout of the restaurant. Not to mention I was very amused by the humorous country-themed signs that peppered the walls. (Particularly the one with the Hillbily 10 Commandments lol) We were immediately greeted, seated, and waited on with excellent service! I have to admit though, when we first saw the menu we were a bit surprised by it seeming so small and not very extensive at first, but we soon found out that inside of that seemingly small menu is a lot of flavor and love packed into it.❤️? Everything was great! I got lemonade which was good, but I tried some of my dad's sweet tea with lemon and it was perfect not overly sweet but just right. I had the Keelboat special with the grilled catfish filets and it was absolutely delightful!? The fish was seasoned perfectly with a nice fresh flavor, the fries were good, the hushpuppies went perfectly with the fresh tartar sauce, the half pot of greens we had had a great flavor, and I absolutely loved the pickled onions and coleslaw!! The pickled onions paired well with the greens and added a brightening flavor and I don't normally come across good coleslaw by many these days, but I can say the coleslaw was absolutely wonderful! I also enjoyed the crispy texture and slight spicy kick of the cornbread. All three of us enjoyed our meal, and we were even treated with great courtesy and hospitality upon paying and preparing to leave the establishment as we were kindly asked if we needed bags for our to-go plates, which I kindly accepted. I have to say the whole experience was the highlight of my day. We will most certainly be back!!

If you've been searching for southern back country cookin, then you've just found it. The chicken and cornbread were spot on and mixed really well with the sweet cream corn. Whether you dip your chicken or not the flavor and tenderness is on point. Gotta have that southern sweet tea with whateverdish you order. I'll be going back very soon. Gotta give the 3 star for the atmosphere though, my table was a little sticky. Great service with a great personality though.
