I ordered my old favorites- broiled oysters and redfish with shrimp. The food and the service was wonderful. I am so glad they kept the old booths. Most of all I love the revival of the front seafood display. ❤️
Great experience! Clean and fresh take on the classic Mayflower Cafe. Excellent service. Sautéed crab claws were perfect. Comeback sauce on the salad was on point. Blackened redfish and broiled scallops with the famous Colbert sauce was outstanding. Good sides, great rolls and a nice wine/drink selection. There is nothing to complain about here!
Food was wonderful, but expensive, $18 for a bowl of seafood gumbo. That alone would have warranted a 4-5 star review, but the real issue i had was seating space. We were seated in the middle isle with very barely enough room for an average size person to walk past us to other tables. The table itself was quite small also, four people would have fit nicely, but they seated our 6 person party there, resulting in everyone feeling very cramped. It felt like the management sacrificed diners comfort for one or two extra tables profit.

It’s back! Everything you loved about The Mayflower with new restrooms and a clean dining room/kitchen!
Same recipes for redfish and comeback sauce that you love! Some new menu items and daily lunch specials.
They serve drinks now too. Go for lunch or dinner. This is a definite go-to spot in Jackson, Mississippi!!
Wheelchair accessibility: Wide front door and a table right up front.

Great experience! Glad the restaurant has been revitalized. Other chefs should invest in downtown.

First time there since their reopening and it was all perfect! Larry, Security gentleman, was our first welcoming individual as we parked and walked us to the front door and as we left - he walked us to our car. The hostess greeted us with the warmest welcome. We had the best waitress, Tricia, you can tell she loves her job. Oh, the food was absolutely fabulous. Broiled Oysters and Redfish followed by Bread Pudding and Coconut Cream Pie. We’ll be back real soon.

Great place! It can be a little crowded so get there early. We had a party of 6 and the sweet hostess took excellent care of us and kept us posted on when our table would be ready. Their homemade Comeback Sauce is so good! Everyone in our party had an excellent time too!

New owner, food was horrible. Been going there for 40 years. Not going back. New owner has new chef’s and staff. Food was frozen pieces of fish, not fresh like previous owner served.
Everyone there we saw and saw many of the same people from years past thinking the same thing about food quality. Terrible food quality and higher prices on top of the poor food.

Lunch. Cuisine was great. First Day Open. The service was a bit slow but, the staff and my waiter was pleasant, Informative and smiled incessantly. She kept my water and tea glasses filled while I waited. In my opinion after 50 years of travel over this country, the water glass is a true barometer for a 5 Star Restaurant. Great Start!!

Atmosphere and service was good. However, my first experience with food was disappointing. Me being a seafood lover, I went for the broiled oysters as my appetizer. It was horrible. Pd $16.95 for six small breaded oyster that was soaked in grease and overly seasoned with lemon. A dough mess. For my entree, I had went there with the intention of getting the Redfish special but after such a disappointing experience with the oysters, I was hesitant to take a $30+ risk.. So, I ordered the Friday catfish special which was ok but nothing to cheer about but edible. If I go back, it will be for the atmosphere, cocktails, and a hamburger ..

Had dinner there last night. New coat of paint and new bathrooms give this iconic restaurant a fresh look. Unfortunately there oysters from Deer Island were absolutely terrible no saltiness and briny flavor and very small.. Hunter your Aunt Elvie is rolling over in her grave by the look of those oysters. The menu is so overpriced for quality that is not there. Hunter your a James Beard award winner surely you can provide your clientele with better quality and more reasonable pricing. The woman manager asked me if she get our table anything and I requested a cocktail that she never brought back to me. Epicourious will not be coming back to this restaurant.
This used to be an old memory full place. But it closed, it says temporarily closed but as of July 2024 no sign of life. Went there yesterday and not even the sign was there anymore. Mayflower has closed after many years, sad but true.
