NOT A PLACE FOR MINORITIES!!!!
Let me tell you about me and my boyfriend's experience dining here. We are coming from New Orleans and decided to stop and eat somewhere before heading to our hotel for the night. I looked up reccomendations to eat in Jackson and this establishment popped up as Top 50 according to The NY Times...we said why not, and headed there. It was obviously very busy on a Friday night so we opted to sit at the bar. We were greeted and offered waters and our bartender made our drinks after. The crab cakes were delicious, i will give them that. We ordered our entrees approximately at 8:25 and DID NOT receive them until 9:40pm. Over an hour after we ordered. Mind you, there were no other minorities eating here and we observed other (white) people who sat after us and got their meals...which is wrong. I'm not sure if it was an error on our bartender for forgetting to put it in or a blatant act of racism. Our bill came out to $180 and my boyfriend left a $25 tip despite everything. I don't recommend coming here if you are a person of culture and ethnic.

Classic place in Jackson and the new renovation looks great. I had the broiled redfish and it was quite good.

I can't say it was bad, but every time I get a to go order and it don't have the condiments that I ask for, it just wrecks the whole.meal. I ordered fried shrimp and didn't get cocktail sauce. 2 ketchup, but no cocktail sauce. Come on people. You write your own review when you don't take time to do the little things on an order.

My 8 year old daughter and I arrived to the cafe at 4:50 pm. There was 2 seats at bar open as well as every table Was empty besides one. There was no more than 8 customers at this time. We walked to the host stand and took her we where here to order Togo. She had a waiter tell me What was on child's menu as I held a menu. I asked the host could we sit down, she replied that they where full Tonight. So then I asked well does it take extra money to get a table At this time. She then told me there where only 2 bar seats available or we where welcome to sit outside in 80 degree heat and wait on our food. I would Love to be contacted with an apology for the failure to allow us to sit and order and get our food. Very poor decision in there part. So beware before you go

My wife and I visited prior to going to a show. I made a reservation online, and we waltzed right in. The server was quick to arrive, and she was quite attentive throughout the evening. The food was wonderful! We started with fried crab claws, and we weren’t disappointed in the least! These were as good, if not better, than some we had eaten recently in San Francisco. (As an aside, the onion rings looked really good too, but we’ll have to wait until our next visit for a taste of them.) We ordered blackened redfish (regular menu staple) and blackened redfish (one of the night’s specials). Both came with a salad and we both chose a baked potato. I was not a fan of the comeback dressing, but the salad was beautiful and tasty. These potatoes were smallish, but they came with an overly-abundant portion of butter (which was greatly appreciated and made it almost soupy!). The fish were both flaky and tasty. I was mildly disappointed that mine wasn’t blackened a little more (like I’m used to), but it was a very minor thing as the taste was so good. My wife is a bread lover, and she raved about it. At the end, we shared a slice of coconut pie, and it was quite light and creamy (the only complaint here is that it was awfully small). Parking was easy and security is provided for those who fear venturing into the area. The atmosphere is nothing to write home about, but they have done a great job with the space they have available (it is tight, but it didn’t feel cramped or crowded). Be forewarned that it is a bit pricey, but the flavor and service make it worthwhile.

The Mayflower blew us all away! The food was exceptional! They somehow managed to take beloved southern food to the next level of perfection. We all went on about the food being the best version we'd ever had. Onion rings, fried okra, yams, catfish, chicken sandwich and the crab cakes were devine! The renovations, atmosphere and service are top tier. We will be back! Loved this for Jackson! Y'all give it a try!
