Wonderful! We went here on a recommendation and it was literally the best recommendation ever. The atmosphere was like going to someone's house. The music was not loud like other places, the waitress was super polite and attentive. The food was delicious. It tasted like grandma was in the back cooking. The portions are huge. Like, fill your belly and take some home for a snack type of huge. I highly recommend this place. Es un diez de diez. Muy auténtico.

This is the best Mexican food in Meridian. After living in Texas for half of my life, finding good Mexican food in Mississippi was...a challenge. This family-run restaurant serves my favorite comfort food, and I've never been served a dish that I haven't enjoyed! It's as close to authentic Mexican as I can find, so don't expect Taco Bell here. The ingredients are fresh, everything is cooked to order, and the portions are generous and usually leave leftovers for lunch the next day. Sometimes the staff is overwhelmed by large crowds, and service can be slower than I'd like, BUT IT'S TOTALLY WORTH THE WAIT. I love going on Tuesdays for inexpensive Taco Tuesday, but any day is a good one at Don Cheques!

Everything we ordered was fantastic. The green chilaquiles were hands-down amazing, the fresh lemonade was perfectly refreshing, and my husband couldn’t stop talking about how fresh and flavorful his chicken chimichanga was.

Ordered steak and chicken fajitas to go, got home in 5 minutes the meat looked like it had been in the refrigerator and the put it in the microwave, it was dry and tasted terrible, will not return

Went 2 times. Birria was pretty good. California burrito was good. Drinks even just regular ones a bit high. 2nd time was enchiladas verdes and a hecatate I think. It was ok the husband enjoyed it. The enchiladas had canned chicken. So I won't be going back. That for me is at least warn a customer if your out so we have the option to not get canned chicken. Server brought 2 tortillas for a giant dish for 2. We asked for more he brought 2 more. So we were able to have 1 a piece. Which wasn't actually an easy task to gwt him to bring it. Kids scream a lot inside here. Kids run around hit the tables and bench. Seems like a free for all.

Our absolute favorite restaurant! We drive over an hour to eat here. Their Molcajete bowl has so much flavor and their chips and salsa are so good. Great customer service as well.
