We stopped in Meridian on our way home from the beach, and so glad we decided to eat local. It was the best chicken and waffles I've ever had. My kids loved the fact you could draw on the table and the "bendy" straws in their cups. We also had their brownies and as a self proclaimed sweet eater they were amazing! Everything we had was so tasty. Our waitress was great also! This will be a place we stop at every time we come through!
Just celebrated our anniversary there. Every course was excellent and service was what you’d expect from a high quality establishment. Can’t wait to return
It's okay, food is decent. Our server looked like he walked off the set of Friday Night Lights, he did good service. The place has an unpleasant smell though, kind of like mildew or something.

It is a fancier restaurant, but the prices, for what we got were reasonable. The food and service were great. The location is in a nice part of town. We did have to park about one block away, but it was a nice walk around town. I would go there again. Not too far from I-20.

We've stopped there twice now while travelling. Once for their regular menu and once for their brunch menu. Both experiences were excellent (both the food and the service). The history of the building the restaurant is in is quite interesting and added to the atmosphere. We will stop again next time we are in nearby.

Passing through Meridian, MS on at trip from Roanoke, ALA to Dallas, TX, we were very happy to find this true historic gem of a restaurant.
Although not quite as old as one of my favorite Lebanon, Ohio restaurants, (The Golden Lamb Restaurant and Hotel - Serving guests since 1803) Weidman's (since 1870) offers an extensive menu of fine food choices.
We arrived at 8:20pm and there was no rush on the part of the staff, even though they closed at 9:00pm. The manager stopped by twice to see how our meal was, and to chat.
Before I get to our appetizer, I’d be remiss in not mentioning the unique Peanut Butter Crocks that adorn the tables. Each table at Weidmann’s is set with a handmade crock and an assortment of crackers. The tradition dates back to the 1940’s, when there was a shortage of butter due to WWII. A guest mentioned to Henry Weidmann that peanut butter would be a good replacement to accompany the crackers. They have been a tradition since and they now have a local potter in Meridian making the crocks by hand. Of course, since they sell them, my wife had to have one !
We chose the Crab Cake for our appetizer and it is made fresh with Gulf crabmeat stacked atop a fried green tomato, with a wonderful remoulade sauce . It was uniquely outstanding !
For my entree, I had the Chicken Ya Ya. It consisted of Paneed chicken breast (hammered somewhat thin, coated with breadcrumbs and fried) topped with shrimp, applewood smoked bacon, spinach and mushrooms in a smoked gouda cream sauce. I could NOT stop eating it ! The more-that-generous side of Cheese Grits complimented it well.
My wife decided on the Gilled Salmon, which was brushed with olive oil, expertly prepared and was also very tasty. As to her side dish, I was fully engaged in my meal and cannot honestly tell you what she had.
Dessert, you say ? We went with the Chocolate Bourbon Pecan Pie and Weidmann’s Peanut Butter Pie. We were not disappointed, although the scale when we arrived home a week later, made us only slightly regret these, and many other food choices on this trip ! Looking back, dessert was no mistake here, since they were both outstanding in size, flavor and presentation.
At this point, all I can say ius “Quit reading this and go to Weidmann’s now !” Next time through Meridian, we’ll check out their Balcony Bar, where the full Weidmann’s dinner menu is also available.

This is one of the most hidden gem in Mississippi! It is absolutely the greatest in food, hospitality, and awesome dining experience in Meridian or in Mississippi. My wife and I just happened to stumble onto this divine establishment on our way back home to Brandon from vacation. We were wanting a sit down meal and not fast food and an enjoyable atmosphere and service. We got that and extremely more from this unique and wonderful restaurant. The food was absolutely dreamy, everything was cooked to perfection and the service was the best. It was our first experience but will not be our last. This will be our stop anytime that we pass through Meridian, Mississippi.
