I had food there yesterday. It was all pretty filling as well as delicious. I had the grilled cheese with ham. It was pretty good I also had the house salad. For my dessert I had a slice of the peanut butter pie.

As a child I remember seeing Mammy’s Cupboard on Highway 61 and was fascinated by the huge woman design. Unfortunately we were always in a hurry and did not get to stop. To me this is a great piece of Americana from a period when people did not take everything so seriously. We were thrilled to find them open on a recent trip. The food is great and they offer half-portions of their huge sandwiches on request. The staff is super friendly and made our visit memorable.Vegetarian options: A few non-meat dishesDietary restrictions: Staff will assist with any restrictions you make them aware ofParking: Large free parking lotKid-friendliness: Fully kid friendlyWheelchair accessibility: Largely acceptable

My wife and I are traveling from Minnesota and wanted to visit parts of Natchez, Mississippi, and I came across this little restaurant called Mammy's Cupboard. My first thought was, did I just travel back in time? First, I was discussed by the woman they had on top of the restaurant. I mean, this is the year 2024, not the 1950s, am I right? Again, when looking at the photos of inside the restaurant, I'm shocked to see all the black mammy dolls, figurines, and whatnot. Don't the owners know that if they got rid of all the objects that represent racism, they would have a much bigger customer base and make more money, maybe even expand. Are they that prejudice that they don't care if they make more money, have more customers, and increase their standings in the restaurant business. I mean, really. We are from Minnesota and can spread the word to whomever is going down south to get away from the cold and eat in a nice restaurant. Do you really want that? I think for now, we will pick a different restaurant. NO THANK YOU!

Fun little road side stop for lunch. Open since 1940! Obviously a local favorite as well as a traveling treat! And the pies.. unbelievable! Sky high meringue! Do stop in and take a step back in time.. what a fun new discovery!

Founded in 1940, this restaurant is in the shape of a 28-foot-tall woman of color with a hoop skirt that houses the gift shop and dining room. It is so named because of the woman of color character in the move "Gone With The Wind". It has been remodeled and renovated several times and gone through many changes. It currently only serves lunch and desserts. The employees are quite friendly, the Reuben sandwich was good, as was the soup. The hummingbird cake (white cake with pineapples, bananas and nuts mixed in, cream cheese frosting, nut toppings) was fabulous. There is a surcharge on using a credit card to pay, though they do accept cash and checks. Inside was decorated for Halloween, and they had several gnomes. I am not sure I will be back. I had passed by in the past and not gone in. I don't even know what to really think.

Mammy's is much bigger on the inside than it looks. Our waitress, Tori is the best! You cannot go wrong with the roast beef or Reuben sandwich. The meal is served with a serving of potato salad and vegetable soup. Don't miss out on dessert! The chocolate meringue pie was very good. Others in our group raved about the broccoli cornbread and red beans and rice. Prices are reasonable.
