I believe when she learned I was going to Starkville said, "You have to visit my son's restaurant!" so I did. The folks were as pleasant as could be and service was very good. The only issue was that the catfish was a bit "muddy". The preparation was excellent and the crawfish sauce was very good it was just a not so good a piece of fish (not bad enough to return just to be noticed). Very good creamy mac & cheese and I thoroughly enjoyed the braised cabbage.
Never had a bad meal here and the bartender was amazing when I dined in a few weeks ago. The Guest Room attached in the back is the hidden gem of Starkville - an incredible speakeasy atmosphere that would stand out even in a big city like NYC.

On a Thursday night colleagues and I enjoyed an excellent meal at Restaurant Tyler. The fried okra and catfish eggroll appetizers were a great start. Try the okra even if you think you don't like okra, it's crispy and well seasoned. The wine list by the glass includes an appealing variety of choices, and my order of shrimp and grits was so very good. Loved the consistency of the grits, the bacon-wrapped shrimp grilled enough to char the bacon, and the spoonful of creamed spinach on top of the dish, which adds color and flavor. Another diner having the lamb gnocchi for the first time was impressed, and two others who choose that dish regularly said it was as good as ever. A large booth for 6 people allowed us to hear our conversation easily, and our server was polite and attentive even though he was working several tables. Thanks Restaurant Tyler for memorable food in a comfortable and attractive space.
Consistently delicious with attentive and speedy service! I couldn’t recommend more! The chicken meatloaf is my favorite!
This place just isn’t what it used to be. Bathrooms were filthy, floors and booths were filthy, food was bland and sides must have been sitting out a while. Server did the minimum and was nowhere to be found after getting our food. Our drinks sat empty since our food was brought out and never refilled. Totally unacceptable. Was there a change in management or something? Staff definitely needs more training and the place needs a good cleaning especially the bathrooms.
Went here for brunch. Was skeptical because husband and I aren't "fancy food" people but the menu was diverse and the portions large. Got a blue plate special and an extra side of grits (after living in South Carolina, I am grit picky, and they're good!) I also have a fairly severe shellfish allergy and the waitress was knowledgeable, kind, and reassuring that cross contamination would be top priority for my meal. We will go again!

My wife and I had lunch at Restaurant Tyler recently. We split some different things, such as pan-seared catfish fillet, Caesar salad, with sides of braised cabbage, baked sweet potato, and cornbread muffin. There was definitely a lot of food, which means that we had a light supper later in the day. The braised cabbage tasted good and was just the way I like it, but I don't think it was really braised. Also, I didn't think the cornbread muffin was anything special. Otherwise, the food tasted good, for the most part.
Great food, service always I absolutely love recommend and totally indulge ?

THE BEST in Starkville, hands down!! Everything on the menu is incredible, fresh, and made by the most talented chefs! Try a blue plate, a salad, cold smoked pork chop, charcuterie board, tacos in the guest room, and ANY AND EVERYTHING you can on the chefs tasting menu on the weekend!

I went there for lunch and got their Blue Plate/ Lunch special ( It was the Fried Chicken with crawfish sauce, mashed potatoes, butter beans, 2 pieces of French bread and unsweetened tea. The picture attached is where I had a couple of bites before taking it. So the food presentation was A+. Jake my Server was definitely on top with everything and was very professional and quick with my requests. Definitely recommend him as a Server if you are visiting there. I also got the desert which was the Tiramisu with vanilla bean ice cream. It was also excellent. This has been my 3rd time there and they did not disappoint.
