I'm from Illinois, so I've been going to Steak n Shake for almost 30 years. The food was good, service was great. I miss the shakes coming in glass shake glasses with the extra shake in the metal shake mixing cup, but otherwise, it was as I remember it.
After a VERY long day of driving, we were thrilled to see a Steak ‘n Shake within walking distance of our hotel. The staff was beyond helpful and kind getting our orders ready quickly. We weren’t finished and they were closing the dining room. We were told no problem, to relax and take our time. Anyone can make a burger but service makes all the difference.
Slow service. Sometimes the burgers are really good. And other times they taste like nothing. Just bland. Hit or miss. Seems like just a bunch of kids. Running the place. Sometimes I struggle placing an order because whoever is taking it has absolutely no idea what’s on the menu. They seem to get confused by what you order.
