Great restaurant in a beautiful older home. The service was amazing, there were smiles all across the restaurant. The food was great typical southern food with rotating specials available too. A big list of dessert cakes and pies to choose from, I couldn't pick just 1 and brought 4 home with me.

Best Southern Food. I have lived in the south for 52 years. We were passing through Vicksburg headed to New Orleans and decided to check out this historical restaurant. Best plate of southern food I have EVER had. Must haves: sweet tea, mashed potatoes and gravy, greens and dessert. Everything we had was delicious but those were definitely stand outs. The people are amazing. We have a daughter with Down syndrome and ASD and they were patient and so kind with her. Adding to our list of places to tell everyone about. Thank you Walnut Hills for a very memorable and enjoyable experience.

We came here on a recommendation, with high expectation for good food. Unfortunately, we were disappointed. We ordered the catfish with steamed broccoli and mashed potatoes. the catfish was so muddy tasting. The potatoes were just awful. Were they instant potatoes?? No, they had a taste that I have never associated with potatoes. It was like they were rotten or had been boiled with dirty sock water. The gravy was lumpy and had a similar weird taste to the mashed potatoes. It could only be salvaged by loads of salt and pepper. My son had the chicken tenders and thought they were delicious ‍ So at least that was good. Our server was delightful. Overall, due to the off putting food we will not be coming back.

5 stars all the way! This is my favorite place to eat in Vicksburg. The staff is very friendly and just a pleasure. Love the food! It’s a regular stop for us when we’re in town visiting.

I decided to Google search some good soul food down in Vicksburg Mississippi. Walnut Hills came up first. After reading the reviews, I decided to take the two hour drive down to check it out. Once I arrived and entered the establishment I was immediately greeted by Latonya. She showed me several seating area options. I chose to set near the bar so that i could see the tv. I ordered a glass of sweet tea and then placed my order. I ordered the fried chicken. What a wonderful treat to my taste buds. I didn't expect to food to be that good but I was totally impressed. The level of service was also award worthy too. Latonya was very warm and attentive during my dining experience.

I spent $57.78 on 3 lunches, and not one of the lunches was good.my family complained about its lack of seasoning, no flavor ? it was awful. However, all the other times we've eaten inside the food were delicious ? they must have a new chef because the food was awful this trip. The service, however, was excellent ? definitely better than the food.

Great friendly service! Tonya was awesome! Fried green tomatoes with crab ettoufee and catfish patties with remoulade sauce were delicious! Great desserts! They had fried chicken like my mom made and shrimp and grits with yummy sausage. The facilities are clean in this beautiful Antebellum house. Parking was in the back and convenient.

Extraordinary southern cooking !! We had the fried chicken and catfish dinners. Plentiful and flavorful. Historic ambience and exceptional staff. Their selection of desserts is amazing. You won't leave disappointed. Would gladly return.

Step into charm and history. Located in a home built in the 1860's the house breaths old south charm and history. We were warmly greeted for lunch and our server was excellent in attention and detail. We started our meal with the Catfish cakes- two generously sized lightly breaded catfish cakes, similar to crab cakes. But the taste was delicious-and the tartar sauce which accompanied was a tasty addition. We then ordered the signature fried chicken- oh goodness, straight from grandmother's kitchen. Breaded perfectly and the taste was alive with seasoning and tenderness. We ordered mashed potatoes, gravy and green beans. Both were prepared perfectly. We also shared a bowl of crab and corn chowder- steaming hot with a consistency that was enough to be a meal in itself. Not too much crab taste, just enough to whistle your pallet. We ended our meal with a slice of cream of coconut pie adorned with coconut sprinkles that made it look to good to eat. But I did and savored every bite. When in Vicksburg Walnut Hills Restaurant is a must!
