Hidden gem at edge of St Mary. Great atmosphere.
We stopped for the Huckleberry pie. Delicious taste & good portions.
Price was a little high at $16 per slice. That said, given location and helping size, would probably have it again!!
site was lovely, bathrooms and showers were immaculate, great service. The restaurant gave us the best meal in a long time, very friendly, highly reccomend the huckleberry tea and huckleberry beef special. If you stay here you can't miss out on the restaurant, its SO good
This review is for the restaurant. I did not stay at the campground. The food was the best that I had during my entire week at glacier national park (we stayed on the west side where there were tons of other restaurants). The service was great, and our waitress was very sweet and informative. I got the jammer burger and buffalo soup. This item is pricey but worth every penny! I could’ve taken down another bowl of that soup for sure. I’ll be dreaming about the huckleberry lemonade until the next time I’m lucky enough to eat here! Also, the decor is very entertaining.
Owners attitude isn't worth even stopping here.
Stayed in campground. It's built on steep hill. Had problems with dropping stairs low enough to close door. We were able to move to different spot that was better, but just be aware if you have solid fold down step. Ate at restaurant. Mentioned I have tomato allergy asking what was in things. Was told they don't cook for people with allergies. Maybe I should just eat bread. 😵💫very rude. Should have left but husband wanted to try their special. Said my green salad was better than his meal. Plus side- pretty view. Close to park entrances at east side and many glacier
Great food, Love the environment, bluegrass music, family tradition. They are shutting down for the season soon, be sure to stop in next year! We will be sure to come back when we visit next year. Well worth the 100$ we spent.
Edit: I’m glad I didn’t read these reviews first, so many entitled people, let me summarize these one star reviews for you.
The owner wouldn’t let me…
1. Eat with my screaming child
2.Bring in my own food or drink
3.Bring an animal into a restaurant
Give this place a try leave your entitlement at home.
Stayed at St Mary cg in GNP. Was there more than a week after labor day and cg dump station was closed when I left. Nice folks @ Johnson's. Happy to accommodate people like me who just need use of the dump station and refilling propane. 4 star only because price quoted on website was half of actual price. Propane was pretty much going rate. Nevermind all that. I needed service and they were happy to provide it. Sorry I didn't get a chance to try the Cafe. The Jammer sounds really tasty.
This is some of the best food we had in a 6 week trip of the northwest, could not recommend highly enough! Real homestyle cooking and excellent service and vibes. Had the chicken fried steak sandwich on home bread bread which was incredible and the side soup it came with (bison and grain) was just incredible!
We just ate at the restaurant!! This was the second time this year we crossed into the border from AB Canada to eat here at this restaurant! Food here is incredibly delicious! And the views are outstanding!
Food and drinks: Amazing!! He mentioned he hunted and processed the Buffalo himself for the special. It can't get more homemade than the food is here! Delicious!

Favourite place I’ve eaten on our holiday. Firstly, the food is great. Secondly, the place has character and a soul. This is somewhere from our trip we will actually remember. The menus offer stories and an insight into this restaurant which clearly means so much to so many. The food was fast and delicious, the server was polite and attentive. Did we get call hippies? Yep. Did it make us laugh? Also yes. Thank you for the effort you put in to keep places like this with so much personality alive in a world increasingly full of cookie cutter establishment's.

This is for the cafe. (Confusing mishmash of types of reviews here). I have been coming for 8 years now and it’s always a great meal and often memorable. From big plate specials to brisket to sandwiches. Or like some of people I met when doing a community type seating or the eyes on my daughters face the first time she saw the huckleberry ice cream pie. Reading some of the other unreasonable persons reviews is kind of sad when you consider where this is located.
Update: Well now I am puzzled and really disappointed trying to stop for lunch again, one of several visits I had planned during this month of September. I stopped by on my bicycle and was polite to ask first if I could lock it anywhere to relax, like an old breaking up red log in front, a post…. Or anything. Was told no sorry. “Could I just fake it and make it look like it was locked?” “No sorry. Don’t think anyone will steal it.” Guess I am just ripped off too much but think is really not good enough. I really want to be a good customer and there are biker/hikers around here, not all are city slickers, even just from the Johnsons campground here that spreads out. I understand not wanting any post here abused. Just throw another raised log or a post out and say at your own risk. Yeah I could drive and park every single time but now I am losing my appetite. I am sad. Really wanted a plate special and desert. I had to go up the road a bit and was welcomed. I will still recommend if driving a car only.

Views in some parts are great. Bathrooms/showers are awful. So gross. They do not change the shower curtains regularly, and they have yellowed and have build up on them. There is mold in all the corners and seams. The office bathroom/shower floor by sinks is going to cave in the floor. The boards are so rotted, and the ceiling is waved and water damaged.
There is also the major issue of privacy. I do not think that anyone thought it through when it was built. You step UP into the shower but the door between the outside and the changing area is low so as you go in, you are totally exposed not to mention it's a straight shot view into the showers via the windows that have no curtains and are wide open. It's built into a hill, so on the outside, you see right into the women's shower. I am 5'11 and there was nothing blocking me. Same problem in the other shower house except when you open the exterior door to the shower/bathroom, it opens to the showers, not the stalls, so anyone outside can see in. Also, the dirty shower curtains are not wide enough to secure to the walls in the shower. so you have more gaps to see in. Not to mention, I don't want to keep touching the gross curtain trying to get it to block the curtain. They are cleaned "daily"... could someone run a broom along the upper corner where the wall meets the ceiling ?? The 2nd shower house had so many webs with dead bugs. The whole length of the ceiling. Such any easy fix to take care of, but no one is doing it.
It's your typical slam in as many campers as you can. Not much room between you and your neighbor. I had a nice view of the lake for 2 days until I got a new neighbor who's truck blocked the view for the rest of the week. I can't speak on the staff, really. I only saw 1 person at check-in. I know they are around, but I didn't go back to the office.
Rooms: Rv spots are packed together. But people were quiet and friendly
Nearby activities: Glacier East entrance is 2 minutes down the road. Super convenient. 2 sisters restaurant is about 5 min away. Fun atmosphere and unique menu.
Safety: Lack of privacy in shower areas
Walkability: Steep climb down/up hill to office/ restrooms. If it's to steep you can follow the drive way it just goes out of the way before it turns back towards the office.

A nice little hidden restaurant on the East side of Glacier that people should definitely go! The huckleberry brisket special was great!
