Wow!!! The coolest place in the US. History, awesome food, amazing service, worth the 4 hour drive
I went in there to order, you had to climb 50 steps to get to top, I got to top and waited over 10 minutes couldn't figure out where to go, stood next to the desk , like have areas were your no where to go . Good luck if you decide to go, very bad business practice
Horribly over seasoned food stuffed into a roasting hot cheap wooden cube with bad service and overpriced meals.
It's an old building like most of Butte, and set up weird like unsure where you go for take out orders. Been here twice and once food was garbage, the wontons had nothing in them and other things. It wasnt expensive so decided to try again and the second time much better. Still a little different than other Asian restaurants, but more affordable too.
Where to start. The sectioned seating was fun, but when you look around it’s filthy. Walls look gross and the ceiling fan had so much dust layered on it. When our food came I was speechless. I ordered a shrimp combo plate. The rice was dry and clumped together, covered in soy sauce. The shrimp on my plate were the canned salad shrimp. They were translucent and not deveined, full of poop. My chow mein was drenched in some unidentifiable sauce. The egg drop soup looked like phlegm. La Choy would’ve been a 5 star experience. My husband had to move my plate away because I literally was going to vomit. Which is what my plate looked like. When the waitress asked if we would like something else instead, I was thinking a barf bag. Instead, we got $1.87 taken off our $50 bill. My husband eats just about anything and he didn’t eat his meal. Very disappointed, and I think that the health department needs to make a visit and shut this place down. Forget tradition and history.
This is by far the worst food we have ever been served in our lives. We took two or three bites each. The staff got snappy with us when we said we did want to eat it. The oldest Chinese restaurant is cool but they don’t clean anything to include ceiling fans. The shrimp was canned shrimp dumped on top with all the poo left in the veins. The “chop suey” tasted like sewer water soup. The rice was not cooked and it was inedible. I would tell you go up and check it out but don’t buy any food.
I really wish I could give this place a better review, but because the food was so terrible, I just can't. And it's a shame too, because this place has such a rich history behind it and some really great service (and that's the only reason why I'm giving it two stars instead of one), but man do they need to update their menu. It's such a disgrace to all the ones who came before. And since most of the people leaving reviews are on the same page as me, I hope they start listening.
What a place! Thank you!
We went because it is a landmark - oldest Chinese Restaurant in the US. We should've taken a picture and left. The food was inedible. I should've read the other reviews, they do NOT exaggerate. Sliced deli meat on the chow mein, over-cooked frozen shrimp in the soup. The bill came to $70 for two and we left 90% of the food on the plate. Do not eat there!

Worst food I've ever had in my entire life. It is shameful that a restaurant with so much history and potential shows so much disdain for the customers. My "chicken fried rice" was a box of rice (brown from the soy sauce and not from frying) with sliced deli meat thrown on top, the sweet and sour chicken (or sesame - can't remember) melts in your mouth because it's been sitting in a vat all day, and the rest of our meal was so disgusting that I did not feel comfortable feeding it to the dog for fear of what it would do to him. Do not give this restaurant your money and do not trust the fake 5 star reviews this shady business so clearly relies on to get people in the door.
Vegetarian options: The canned veggies are disgusting e.g the celery

Amazing atmosphere really fascinating history. Mediocre food. The almond chicken chow main was 50% cooked Celery. The fried rice was good but I'm convinced they cook 1 kind of fried rice and then threw cold little shrimp on it. Fried shrimp was good. Egg drop soup was good. The pineapple spare ribs were very good. They were tender and the sauce was excellent. Certainly the star of the dinner
Wheelchair accessibility: Absolutely not. Has a flight of narrow stairs.

We waited over an hour after showing up to the restaurant before we received our food including about 30 minutes waiting to be seated. The walls and curtains were filthy, chairs super uncomfortable. We ordered a multitude of dishes because of being told this place was so good 3 of the dishes were unedible. The chicken dish we got wasn’t chicken at all but cut up sandwiche meat! It was slimy and nasty. 2 were cold upon being brought out one had hair in it. The only edible dish we received was the rice! None of our drinks were refilled nor were we ever checked on we had to go find our waitress. When asked if we wanted to go boxes we attempted to voice our issues with our food as only a bite or two were taken from each dish to which the waitress very rudely cut us off saying so you just don’t want to pay and walked away. We were told to just leave. I will never return to this establishment nor do I recommend it to anyone, you are better off finding a Panda Express for more authentic and better tasting Chinese food.

This place was absolutely without a doubt the worst place I have ever been to in my life. Got there and waited 20 minutes before a server even acknowledged our presence. We ordered a multitude of dishes because we've heard how good this place was and the meat in one dish was literally sandwich meat. Another dish came out cold. Another 2 dishes were slimy nastiness and smelled fowl. And there was hair in our appetizer, a long hair. NEVER GOING THERE AGAIN! If I could give ZERO stars I would. That place should be shut down. I wouldn't even give their food to a dog

I've been here multiple times because it's a must see for visitors! This place is awesome, but don't expect the best Chinese food you've ever had.. some of it is comically bad.. I recommend the orange chicken, the noodles, and the barbequed pork appetizer (the spicy mustard is delicious and made in house!).
Go check out the lounge and order a drink, flip over the menu to read the stories, enjoy the funny orange privacy booths and the rich history of Butte!
