Grub Stake is the best of a Montana roadhouse! Great drinks and conversations at the bar, and the Philly Steak sandwich and chicken Ceasars salad were delicious. Right off I-15, don't drive on by!
We dropped in for an early dinner. The service was great. The food was excellent. The menu is great... Dinner plates, steaks, prime rib, sandwiches, burgers and more. We're in town for a couple of days and we're planning to go back.
Tear a page out of the old West fold it up and save it after writing on it Grub Stake as a reminder to stop there for a meal from time to time. It is class Western. The food is what I expect going into pretty much all Bar and Restaurants in Montana and it has a kind of home town feeling. Lots of parking and not far from Helena at all (The State Capitol). Very close too - (if you like to fish and camp or hike) Mountains and lakes.
