Gulch Distilleries crafts quality spirits and has a cozy tasting room setting. Both their Burrone Fernet and Fruition Apple Brandy were delicious, and it is great that they use local Montana grains and Bitterroot Macintosh Apples.
I really appreciated seeing owner Steffen Rasile behind the bar; he was warm, enthusiastic about his craft, and I heard he is also offering cocktail classes.
We were lucky to stumble upon a popup where we sampled the Fernet and it was incredible! (It makes sense why its won so many awards!) So we absolutely had to come to the tasting room for the full experience. Their cocktails are perfectly curated. Each one we had we LOVED! Left with a couple bottles of Fernet to bring back home to share. If you're in the area you should stop by!
One of my favorite cocktail spots in Helena! The tasting room is warm, inviting, and always has a great vibe. The drinks are fantastic, and the staff consistently provides outstanding service.

The new location, just off of Last Chance Gulch, is fabulous - right next to a great burger joint. Customers love the how the menu encourages them to be more daring with drinks ranked in order of how adventurous they are. Bartenders are extremely knowledgeable and friendly, and the spirits are flavorful and wide-ranging. Gulch Distillers should be on every visitor's agenda where they can definitely rub elbows with locals.
