It was wonderful. Steal cooked beautifully. Sides were tasty. We each shared a steak between each couple. Portions good.

We enjoyed our date night at the Mercantile very much! Their reservation system is effective at managing the flow of customers and wait staff did not seem stressed. We have also never experienced a restaurant sending us a request for feedback about our experience asking how they can improve - sent to management. This is amazing and great leadership.

We have been here many times each time delicious and fun. Last nights dinner at the Mercantile was a 10! Gabriela was a professional! Her attention to details and customer service made the evening a success. The food was delicious and the atmosphere was lovely.

Food was just ok. Been here a few times over the past few years and it has always been excellent - Sadly, that was not the case this time.

What a gem! We had no expectations as the exterior is unassuming. We did have reservations, but we noticed that this time of year we could likely come without them or get seated at the bar if needed. My husband started with the Angel's Envy flight, and I the tequila drink on the menu- which I reordered! We had the marrow bone starter which was absolutely delectable and added the bourbon luge when finished (though luged it into a glass vs into the mouth like a shot). The beet salad was delicious, and the added, cold caramelized onions were a nice surprise. My husband is VERY particular with steak, and he said the beef ribeye was the best steak- over Chicago! The mac n cheese was perfect. I had the seafood special with peas, guanciale and scallops, and the scallops were excellently prepared and like butter. After all of these wins, we had to order dessert! The chai creme brûlée was insane, and the after dinner drink Clarified Spiced Pomegranate Milk Punch was marvelous and unexpected. Mel, our server, was funny, very knowledgeable, spot on with recommendations, attentive, and an absolute pleasure. This may very well be our new favorite place!

This was the best experience in every way. It was Halloween night, and all of the wait staff were in awesome costumes that made us smile. The service was warm and excellent. The atmosphere was a great mix of comfy Montana but also fine dining. We felt comfortable in our jeans but also would have felt comfortable coming in dressed to the nines. The lighting was perfect. The music was great but not so loud we couldn't have a conversation. And the food!!!! My husband is a meat-and-potatoes guy, and he said this was the best steak he had ever had. I got the burger and fries, which made me sigh with happiness at every bite. And we ordered the mac-n-cheese, which was a great guilty pleasure with dripping cheese. The menu was priced in a way that fit our modest budget on the gift card but also offered more expensive options if someone wanted to really splurge. Definitely telling all of our friends about this delightful experience.

We were celebrating our anniversary last night and a trip to Kalispell from out of town for medical treatments, so we spent the night and decided to celebrate with Mercantile for the first time. I had the filet and beet salad, which were both wonderful! The steak was cooked perfectly and the salad was amazing! My husband had the seafood special which was a seafood pasta and side salad. They were both very good! We'd definitely recommend the Mercantile!

The NY strip was beyond delicious! We took home leftovers and had steak and eggs for breakfast the next morning! Melanie was the perfect server and took excellent care of us. Overall, great experience. We will be back!

I was disappointed that the popovers are not complimentary anymore. We were also disappointed in the chocolate flourless dessert. Very dry, like it was old. When I asked about the wine, I was disappointed that the waiter did not offer me a taste of the two wines I was thinking of. My experience at the Mercantile was not as good as it has been in the past. On a positive note, the smoked rare prime rib was fabulous.

Positive- great menu based on MT beef with creatively crafted cocktails. For non beef eaters, there is a fish of the day (they had sold out by time of our reservation), a vegetarian meal, a chicken and a pork dish. Our server was lovely as was service of establishment overall. Neg: Found restaurant to be overpriced. Having lived & dined in many cities including iconic restaurants in London, NYC, Rome, Milan, etc - Mercantile is charging a premium for their locally sourced meat that can be easily found elsewhere with the up charge for the ambience which is indeed a cool take on the old school steakhouse. Popovers are their special appetiser, these do somewhat rival Britain's Yorkshire puddings served with Sunday roasts but take a different turn with an herb butter rather than paired with the traditional beef and gravy. Pretty sure it's a place for visitors, and not the local haunt.

My guy and I have been coming here ever since it opened as a bar and grill. Prices have always been high and now, wow, $80 for a steak?!?! No trimmings either...those cost extra. And now you have to order drinks and your meal at the bar. We ate there last Friday night and a burger, wedge salad, poutine and prime rib frites, and four glasses of wine cost almost $140. The poutine and rib bites were ok but the fries were hard. The wine pours were very small. Sadly, we are not coming back. There are plenty of restaurants in town that will provide restaurant service with good food for that price.

I can't wait to go back. The filet mignon may have been the best I've tried (my date ordered that but shared a piece). I had the smoked prome rib which tasted great but it was finished in a bath of sorts to bring it to medium rare and had no crust and looked Grey so I will not order that again. A little louder than my preference but not a negative. Easy to have a private conversation.

We had a great meal at Mercantile Steak. Was our first visit to Kalispell, and though it's not a big town, Mercantile Steak is a great place for a nice dinner with great service, drinks, and food. Steaks were excellent, as were the sides. Cocktails were excellent too. Spent around $200 for two people, but this is what we'd expect for this quality restaurant. Great ambience and decor in the restaurant, and very cool that it's in one of the oldest buildings in Kalispell.
