Excellent experience, delicious food. Our server was knowledgeable about the menu and the helpful in answering our questions.

I was disappointed that the popovers are not complimentary anymore. We were also disappointed in the chocolate flourless dessert. Very dry, like it was old. When I asked about the wine, I was disappointed that the waiter did not offer me a taste of the two wines I was thinking of. My experience at the Mercantile was not as good as it has been in the past. On a positive note, the smoked rare prime rib was fabulous.

Positive- great menu based on MT beef with creatively crafted cocktails. For non beef eaters, there is a fish of the day (they had sold out by time of our reservation), a vegetarian meal, a chicken and a pork dish. Our server was lovely as was service of establishment overall. Neg: Found restaurant to be overpriced. Having lived & dined in many cities including iconic restaurants in London, NYC, Rome, Milan, etc - Mercantile is charging a premium for their locally sourced meat that can be easily found elsewhere with the up charge for the ambience which is indeed a cool take on the old school steakhouse. Popovers are their special appetiser, these do somewhat rival Britain's Yorkshire puddings served with Sunday roasts but take a different turn with an herb butter rather than paired with the traditional beef and gravy. Pretty sure it's a place for visitors, and not the local haunt.

I can't wait to go back. The filet mignon may have been the best I've tried (my date ordered that but shared a piece). I had the smoked prome rib which tasted great but it was finished in a bath of sorts to bring it to medium rare and had no crust and looked Grey so I will not order that again. A little louder than my preference but not a negative. Easy to have a private conversation.

We had a great meal at Mercantile Steak. Was our first visit to Kalispell, and though it's not a big town, Mercantile Steak is a great place for a nice dinner with great service, drinks, and food. Steaks were excellent, as were the sides. Cocktails were excellent too. Spent around $200 for two people, but this is what we'd expect for this quality restaurant. Great ambience and decor in the restaurant, and very cool that it's in one of the oldest buildings in Kalispell.

Great venue and Katy our waitress was fantastic! However three of the entrees were out and substitute for the bison rib eye was marked up. Prime rib was overly Smokey and bison NY strip steak was tough. Still love this lace but will choose a non- holiday weekend to visit next time.

Selected this restaurant because it had very high rating. We frequent steakhouses regularly when traveling. The meal was very good however the steak came warm. At 66.00 for a 8 oz filet (My Std)I would expect it to come sizzling on the plate and melt in your mouth. Quality of steak was very good, Green beans on the menu were not available that day. Vegi selection was limited. They try hard but not quite there for an elite steak house. I would pass

Always great food and service!!!! The prices were just raised significantly but overall worth it!

Overpriced. Small portions. Ordered the fish special for $38, half of my medium sized plate was empty when I received my order.

Awesome staff & the food was great. Arrived hot and courses timed perfectly. Accommodated a gluten allergy without a blink, even the fried calamari starter. A local gem.

Thank you for our anniversary dinner. We enjoyed everything about our experience. Our recommendations would be popovers, prime rib, and the bread pudding. Which was especially flavorful since it was on the house.

I really wanted to like this restaurant but it just wasn't meant to be. After spending over 30 minutes squinting in the blinding sun we finally had to ask staff to lower the sun screen. From there things just went downhill. Twice food was delivered to our table that wasn't ours. Drinks were slow to be delivered from the bar, and the food took well over 45 minutes. Well our food took over 45 minutes to come out. My steak was medium rare but charred to the point it tasted like a burnt salt lick. Maybe they were just having an off night. Just disappointed.

The salad and drinks came quickly. Steal took a little longer (45 min) but was worth the wait. The food was delicious.

The service and food were excellent. We had the 17-oz bison ribeye to share, the 8-oz filet, and the chicken breast. For sides, mashed potatoes (amazing), and twice baked potato (way too dry and not very hot). The peppercorn sauce was out of this world delicious. But it was a very noisy place, making conversations difficult. Beyond that, the prices were also out of this world but not in a good way. $21 for a cocktail. $66 for the 8-oz filet A LA CARTE! So while we throughly enjoyed the meal, we didn't order appetizers or desserts. These are big city prices which we didn't expect in Montana. That's the only reason the review is a 4 rather than a 5 star.
