Our calamari was overcooked was very very chewy. My steak was done perfectly. My husband's was overcooked.

We had reservations and were seated promptly. Our server was wonderful. My husband tried the pork chop which was recommended and our party of 4 all want to go back and get it, it was that good. We love their popovers and garlic herb butter. With the increase cost of eggs the popovers are no longer complimentary—we are so glad we each got one, they were as good as we remembered! Worth the $3! One of our favorite places for a good meal.

I ordered the New York strip cooked medium - it was deep red and very bloody. Had them cook it longer, came back overdone. Was so long that I decided to just eat it anyway. Quite disappointed in the quality of the meat and its poor preparation. I did love the mashed potatoes! When making reservation on Open Table, I wanted a table at around 6:00. Closest I could get was 5:15. We were the only people in the place until 5:30. A few people came in, but at 6:00 there were still seven tables open and three servers chatting idly behind the bar! Not planning to return with this poor level of food and hospitality!

The Mercantile in Kalispell is a true gem, blending rustic charm with exceptional cuisine. The menu highlights locally sourced ingredients, and the New York steak and prime rib were standouts—perfectly cooked, tender, and full of flavor. While I would’ve liked to see a few more main course options, the quality of the food more than made up for it.
The service was impeccable, with a warm and attentive staff who made the experience even better. Whether for a special occasion or a casual treat, The Mercantile offers a dining experience worth savoring. I can’t wait to return!

Love the atmosphere. There's 2 or 3 items in the menu I really enjoy. The Lamb and the Burger are fantastic. The popovers are to die for. I love the atmosphere and the service here. The sommelier have exquisite service. As a local community market leader (Real Estate Agent in the Flathead) I recommend this place 10/10 !
I have long awaited dining here. We were joined by another couple, we all had different meals. I had the elk meatball bolengese. The elk meatballs were dry and lacking flavor and the sauce was skimpy in portion and barely covered the pasta. The grouper fish entre, my friends, enjoyed and said their meal was good. The other plate was a steak medium well, looked as it should and the salad was the highlight of his meal. All in all, the service was excellent as well as the environment, however, I will not return.
