Exceptionally clean and sanitary restaurant. Very impressive! From the restroom to the counter tops, it's that clean. I recently had the beet salad and enjoyed my lunch. Highly recommend.

We showed up this fine Saturday morning in 33°F weather. It was so cold, and we were just looking for a sip of espresso while our son battles the good fight in the NICU. We stepped in just for a soak of warmth while we walked, not sure of what was on the menu. We were greeted with a friendly atmosphere, and a smiling face. We explained that we just wanted some time to peruse the menu because we were walking while our son is in the hospital. He immediately asked if our son was okay, and when we explained that he was just too early for this world, but he's putting up a good fight, his face softened and he took us in. Two tired, frustrated NICU parents who just wanted a warm sip of coffee. He congratulated us, and served our lattes with beautiful hearts on top. When I stepped out to take a call about my son, he delivered a warm cup of broth and a muffin to us, as a congratulations and a feel better soon. It meant the world to us. We will be back. Thank you.

Wow — what an incredible surprise! My partner and I went to Basal for date night, and we were blown away. It was 35° outside, yet everything on our plates tasted like it had just been picked fresh from the farm. I ordered the Brussels Sprout Caesar Salad, and my partner got the Autumn Chicken — both were absolutely delicious. The dressings were next-level: vibrant, balanced, and clearly made with care.
On top of the amazing food, the staff were phenomenal — warm, genuine, and attentive in a way that felt personal. They looked you in the eye, checked in with a smile, and really made the evening special.
What an experience. Five stars, hands down. Can’t wait to go back!

We sat outside and split the seasonal warm breakfast bowl and the apple cinnamon oatmeal and both were outstanding. So good. The staff were friendly and helpful and warm. And they even brought our dog two small steak treats, actual steak, so she has informed us that anytime we’re back in Missoula we have to come back here immediately.
Grateful to find Basal as we passed through Missoula.
The delicious meal was nourishing as it was tasty.
What made it extra nice were the people. Im kicking myself for forgetting the young mans name after asking him but he is in a couple of these pics. His attitude and willingness to give us a good experience was evident. He made helpful suggestions to add to the pesto rice bowl.
Then this cheerful woman brought us our meal and coffees, turns out that was Julie one of the owners. This place has a fabulous vive and we will come back.

Clean ingredients, delicious taste, great vibes, and amazing service - what more could you ask for! We had stopped here on the way to Bozeman and were excited to find a place with clean ingredients and a great menu. We got two salad bowls off the menu and made a lot of substitutions which the people helping us with were super patient and kind about. We left with the bowls to eat on our drive but found a little ways out that the chicken was missing. We called them and they quickly put the chicken together in a separate container for us to grab and even asked if we wanted them to toss it with the dressing we’d chosen. They also refunded the whole order - the customer service was beyond what we expected and we were floored by it all - the kindness of the people, the food, and the quality of the ingredients. Can’t recommend Basal enough!
They also sell clean ingredient snacks, and we were able to get 2 new chocolates we hadn’t tried before as dessert as well as LMNT electrolytes to have on the plane.
Just an amazing experience and hope to be back - thank you to the owner and the team at Basal! :)
