Snug bar was really great! I tried the ricotta gnocchi and they were awesome

Great dining at the base of the slopes in the Kandahar lodge. Make reservations, tables are limited, this is a popular place for dinner tasting menu. Chef Andy Blanton has developed a style of cooking that is sure to please locals & tourist alike. Expect high quality ingredients a unique style of cooking executed at a high level.

We booked reservations after reading about the chef being a James Beard semifinalist. The food and service were great. It was a fun evening with friends.

We ordered the 4 couse meal with the wine pairing which was $310 for the two of us. The dining room is very bright and for some reason the tables are partitioned off with clear plastic giving it an air of a hospital/cafeteria vibe. Our waiter was fine but the wine guy, Cory, hit a sour note. He was describing a wine and flat out said at one point, "I don't really know". Awesome. The first course was supposedly a smoked salmon pancake thing but it all would have fit in a tablespoon so I took there word for it. 2nd course was octopus or crab. We got one of each. They were delicious but once again, no more than 2 bites. Next was pork belly or duck and once again, we got one of each. They were both delicious but were also a 2 bite appetizer. Finally we got to the main couse. We were so hungry as we'd only had 6 bites of food to this point. I got the bison tenderloin and my husband got the Wagu short ribs. Like everything else, it was delicious. $372.45 later we went into town and got a pizza. While the super expensive appetizers were very good, it's not a dinner. The only reason I gave it 2 stars was because the little food that we did get, was very good.

Absolutely top notch. Fantastic food, wine pairings, and excellent service. We visit there every other year or so, and always look forward to this world class restaurant.Vegetarian options: Two of our party do not eat meat (but do eat fish). They made very nice substitutions in the tasting menu to accomodate.

We enjoy chef’s tasting menus as they’re the experts; Chef Blanton and his team did not disappoint. The five course meal started with a crudo followed by choices for the next two small plates, all of which were diverse and interesting. My entree showed Chef’s NOLA roots which was a welcome diversion in the mountains on Montana. Wine pairings and desserts rounded out the meal; which, was agreed to be one our favorites. Cafe Kandahar is far superior to all the other meals we had in the Glacier National Park area, much of which was a bit bland and basic. Treat yourself at Cafe Kandahar!

We had an amazing meal here with outstanding service. The staff were very passionate and knowledgeable about food and the wine. The food was amazing and they were able to easily make substitutions easily. We loved every course and the wine pairings. The environment is cozy and comfortable. We went to dinner after doing the chairlift ride and getting a drink at the Snug Bar, the entire evening was a great experience.

Outstanding food experience! We took the 5 courses with wine pairing, ultimate flavors in your mouth! Place is super clean, staff is dedicated and knowledgeable, and the chef - Andy - is so creative! I haven't been there for years mainly due to Covid restrictions but now that life is close to normal, going there was worth the taste, excitement and the menu is at another level. Way to go folks!

Can't speak for the restaurant, but the Snug Bar? The Snug Bar is like a warm après-ski, après-hike, après-whatever yummy boozy hug. It's inviting, cozy, tiny, intimate, and... well... snug. Naming a snug bar the Snug Bar may not be the most creative branding in the world, but it's solidly on point here. The Snug is definitely snug. The drinks are well made and the staff is super friendly. A limited menu is available from the restaurant.

The Best. Excellence. Fine French Cuisine in rural Montana. Chef Blanton and his staff create an experience. Far more than a meal. God Bless and thank Andy for to our dedication and attention to detail.

Outstanding! We dined at Cafe Kandahar in august 2021. I am now writing this review nearly a year later - that's how much of an impression was left. Easily one of the best meals I had in my life. We were a party of 5 and we all reminisce on our perfect dinner. The timing of each course was orchestrated on point. Everything was at perfect temperature. Our waiter(s) were so attentive and friendly. This is what going out to eat is supposed to be! Bravo.

This is my Google review and the owner's response you should know about prior to dining here! EDIT #2: HOW DARE YOU STALK ME ON THE INTERNET AND THEN FILE A COMPLAINT WITH MY EMPLOYER IN AN ATTEMPT TO SABOTAGE MY CAREER BECAUSE YOU DID NOT LIKE MY REVIEW! If you truly have the leadership experience you told my employer you have, then you would know THIS BEHAVIOR IS HIGHLY INAPPROPRIATE! You and your team had every opportunity to address the hair in my food on site and in person when it happened for which you stated you chose not to. I am not "hiding behind a pen in a Google review" as you told my employer I was. It is industry standard for kitchen staff to wear hair nets so hair does not get in the food. Had your team followed protocol, which they were not because we saw them, then we would not be having this dialogue. EDIT: Hi Chef! I appreciate your response, which is a reflection of the tone and management style you exhibit at your restaurant. 1st - The hair found in my food was not the same color, texture or length of my hair. 2nd - How would my hair have been down in the depth of my bowl between the mushrooms and pastry? I would encourage you to revisit your tone with customers in the future. Totally overrated!! Café Kandahar was an incredibly disappointing experience for a bill of more than $400! We have experienced many wine + food pairing four and five course meals near and far, but found this one to be skimpy! Also, the menu reflected on their website was different by one course than was offered in person. My 2nd course was served with a nice, thick, long hair in it! I had to get the waiter's attention to alert him of this. It took longer than is acceptable to bring me out a new course and the pastry at the bottom of the mushrooms was missing. The Chef was there and should have been the one to bring me out the replacement with an apology rather than the silly waiter who found it funny and made jokes about the hair in my food as he brought my new course. There was no manager to be found checking in to see how the guest's dining experience was going. Take your $400 and find a much better meal else where. Also, we were expecting stellar views from atop the mountain at the restaurant. 3 1/2 of the 4 walls were pure sheetrock and very little window view for the entire restaurant. They were also the only restaurant we dined at in Montana that still had plastic portable dividers in between tables, which really ruined the experience! We were overall disappointed and would not recommend to others! OWNERS RESPONSE: EDIT: Natalie- We encourage you to take up a negative experience with us as the owners, next time your expectations aren't met, instead of writing a spiteful review and an ill-conceived edit as a response. Dear Natalie. Indeed I was present at the Restaurant that night, and I chose not to visit your table. You see, once we realized it was your hair, there really wasn't much to explain. The server attempted to provide some candor to the experience, which you quickly dismissed. If the plastic dividers (partitions) truly ruined your experience, and the lack of a view tainted your expectation (which you were informed of when you made the reservation), as well as thinking that a replacement second course "took longer than acceptable to bring out to you", with no manager to be found checking in on you, and finally finding our menu to be skimpy with one course being different from the website- then we are delighted to have you never visit us again. We no longer wish to serve those with unrealistic expectations, particularly when they are first time diners, and then take the time to write a vindictive one-star review when they feel slighted by things beyond our control. A note to other potential diners: We continue to use the partitions for the ambience and intimacy they help ensure, particularly when it comes to the audible level (we have a small dining room with low ceilings). Our diners have come to enjoy our quaint, intimate setting. At times, due to supply chain issues,

As the restaurant’s website description states, it is truly thoughtfully constructed cuisine. If you really love food and enjoy every dish perfectly-balanced in taste and presentation, Cafe Kandahar will exceed those expectations. If you like a variety of wines order the wine pairing, which enhances each dish’s flavors. This was my husband’s and my second time eating here, with 11 years between. Outstanding each time.

The food was great, that's a given. The real standout was the service. My father has mild dementia and the maître d, our waiter Tim, and Tim's wife were kind and understanding. Thank you, it really means a lot to us.
