It has a very intimate feel about it. The service was so friendly and thorough. The food was awesome. We had the mushroom appetizer and I had the Lamb Biryani entree. The presentation was very professional. I couldn't eat all of my entree. I had to take some home. The prices are very reasonable. I was there with two colleagues and they too were very pleased with our experience. Our only cautionary comment is that the menu was difficult to read. More contrast is needed for the print. Now, let's talk about the food – the quality was truly excellent, especially the Fish Tikka masala and Tandoori chicken, which we absolutely loved. We're already looking forward to coming back on our next trip to moncton, and we won't hesitate to recommend this restaurant to our friends as well. “While in Moncton for a conference, I was looking for a place to grab a decent meal and catch up with an old high school friend. I hadn’t heard of the Tide & Boar Gastropub before this trip, but it was close to my hotel, and the reviews seemed promising, so we decided to give it a try. My son was also with me.

The atmosphere inside was lively but not overwhelming, with a cozy, slightly rustic interior that gives off a mix of modern gastropub and down-to-earth East Coast hospitality. Service was friendly and attentive without being intrusive, and we were seated quickly despite the place being moderately busy.

I ordered the fish and chips paired with one of their local craft beers. The fish was beautifully battered and fried to a crisp golden brown, with tender, flaky fish inside and perfectly seasoned fries on the side. My son went with a steak and a lemonade, and while the steak wasn’t massive, it was well-cooked and flavourful.

Here’s the catch: the bill, including tip, came out to just under $90. For a gastropub, that’s steep—especially when you’re not ordering cocktails or appetizers. I do realize this is Moncton, not Montreal, and that sometimes prices are inflated due to a lack of nearby competition or smaller supply chains. Still, it felt off. The quality of the food was very good, and the experience was positive, but I can’t help but feel the pricing pushes it out of the casual dinner territory.

It’s a great spot for tourists wanting to try something local and well-reviewed, and I’m glad I had the chance to visit and catch up with an old friend. But unless the prices come down a bit or the portions go up, I don’t see myself returning on a future trip.”

“I love this cafe so much. I used to go often when I worked downtown. Went in today with a friend for lunch. I had bibimbap and a tea. Both were delicious. The service and atmosphere are excellent. If you’re looking for a cozy cafe spot, I highly recommend stopping in. The lattes and baked goods are great as well especially the Nanaimo bars and the brownies.”

“We visited Catch22 for the first time after a few of our friends recommended it and we read such great reviews online.

We started with raw oysters and mussels (pictured), which were all fresh and delicious. For mains we had the Lobster dinner, scallop alfredo (pictured) and a seafood pasta. Everyone cleaned their plates and we agreed that it was some of the best seafood we've ever had. For desserts we tried the crème brulee that came with a sugar cookie (mediocre, but not the star of the dish to begin with). The crème brulee itself was delicious.

I ordered a French 75 to start which was light and refreshing. I went to order a second drink but wanted a recommendation on something slightly sweeter. The bartender Justin came over, asked me a few questions and then asked if he could make me something off-menu with some ingredients he had. He brought back a delicious strawberry gin drink that was exactly what I was looking for.

Our waitress Flora was excellent. It was her first or second day on the job and she served us effortlessly. She was very personable and a pleasure to chat with.

“It's in a funky little corner spot with no tables to eat in BUT the good was amazing and the service was great with recommending a little bit of a few items. We had pizza, bread, wings and everything was delicious. Great pricing as well.”
