The worst takeout experience ever. I ordered two burgers and fries. The service was very slow and the employees attitudes were nonchalant. Everyone behind me in the line got their orders and despite of me asking couple of times the servers there just told me it’s the fries that’s taking time. Everyone else got the same fries. The burgers were cold and so were the fries so it almost feels my order was held back on purpose. One and done experience for me! Never again and I’ll make sure my friends know about it too!

I've been reading reviews of this place for years but couldn't bring myself to deal with the UNC crowd so I had not tried it until recently. I went to the Apex location and fell in love with it and have been back once every two weeks since. Perfectly cooked burgers and dogs and the chili is fantastic. They have draft beer which is always a plus in my book. My new burger and dog staple.

Not much good to say about our experience.

Our online order sat on the counter dying for nearly five minutes while we stood there waiting for someone to help us at order pick up.

The kid’s burger was very charred. Most kids don’t want that char flavor.

The fries are generic crinkle. And they were cooked very poorly (see pic).

Worst of all, there was a purple hair on the burger. Yes, there was a food prep person with purple hair. They had a hat on but it didn’t come close to containing their hair in. So gross.

Bad first impression!

This place has been really hyped up, so we decided to try it. I ordered online for take-out. The online ordering was straightforward, and I appreciated the many options to tailor the burgers. However, it really comes down to the food, doesn‘t it? And that is why the two stars.

Al‘s website has a whole section about how they properly cook their burgers to temperature, and a warning about undercooked meat. We ordered the burgers done Medium, which is the recommendation on the website. Imagine our surprise when we took our first bites and found that the patties were merely browned on the outsides, and completely cold and raw red in the centers.

We won‘t be going back.

I had a disappointing experience with my recent order at this location. I ordered a Kaarin Veg Burger with no tomatoes and added mushrooms, which I paid extra for, but the mushrooms were completely missing. And moreover the burger was COLD. I called the restaurant to address the issue and received no answer. I also sent an email with photos and a video, but never received a response. It's frustrating when order accuracy and customer service are both lacking. I hope they improve their communication and attention to detail.

Burgers came out cold, not sure why.
Fries are too soft and should have been crispier.

Overall ok place. Not the hype I was expecting.

And yes little pricy $50+ for two burgers, side and a drink.

Well. Don’t come here to get hot food. Waited an hour. The assembly line allows your burger to sit for a while. Nothing is hot and shake melted waiting on order. I assume maybe it will get better but I will not be back.
I would look at your process for food preparation. It needs to be delivered hot. Not sit out. My burger was not only cold it was burnt. Please adjust your process.

Update. November 29. Tried again. My food was cold and fries undercooked as well. Did not get my Al sauce either in my order.
I live close by and yet I cannot count on you to make me a meal that I am satisfied with.
Have to reheat it all.

It was so unbelievably mid for the price. We spend $60 on two burgers, two sides, 2 drinks and a kids meal. I would have justified the price if the food was delicious, but it was barely even good. It was the most average burger and tater tots I’ve had in my life. Definitely not going back

After reading reviews we decided to make the trip to try their burgers. Growing up poor I learned to appreciate all types of food at different levels. I have also had the pleasure of tasting foods of many cultures and leaning the way foods should taste. Being able to differentiate between correct, good vs cost value.

With this being said. We had ordered a kids plain hamburger with fries; a classic cheese burger; a Swiss mushroom burger and an order of sweet potato fries.

The staff was very friendly and the restaurant had limited seating but also very clean and easy to find seating. I would like to acknowledge that this location is not a fast food restaurant like McDonald’s or Burger King but yet a Burger Dinner. Meaning the food will not come out super quick, this is because each burger is made to order not in bulk like fast food locations. Now this does not mean that it took a long time either. I would say it was a decent amount of time.

The kids meal was exactly what you may expect. The Classic and Swiss Hamburgers, while made well where lacking for the amount being paid for them. Only item that was made that was lacking was the Sweet Potatoe Fries which were over cooked slightly burnet. The Cost vs Product was simply not equatable. The amount paid for just the Burger would have been adequate if it was accompanied with fries and drink. How ever this is not the case, the Sweet Potatoe fries were an additional $5.00 and the amount was equal to a medium fries at McDonald’s.

I would say if you are in the area and would like a decent burger and are like us, don’t mind paying or traveling for good food. Then this would be a great please to stop by. However when it comes to cost vs food. I would say that it is not worth the extra trip to come here. Good if in the area but not worth the trip.

Assuming this is the same as the famous Chapel Hill location, I don’t get the hype. Although the burger did taste fresh, it was very small and expensive with not a lot of flavor. The fries had no flavor. The staff were very friendly, but the service was slow.

You can one-up this place with Harris Teeter burgers at home.
