Delicious and friendly. Highly recommended

We visited Yamato on a Saturday evening and were seated immediately, but the experience was disappointing. The restaurant had an odd smell, and our table area wasn’t clean.

The Spicy Salmon Sushi was underwhelming—mostly rice with a tiny piece of salmon, lacking flavor and effort. The Steak Hibachi tasted good, but portions were noticeably smaller than before, with sautéed veggies that were mostly onions. The soup was the worst part—watery and bland, with a single paper-thin mushroom slice.

Overall, the quality has declined, and we won’t be returning.

They’re definitely applying shrinklation. The plates use to be much more packed and now they seem to be 30% less food and the same price.

The effort they put into their decor and atmosphere is the effort they put into their food... which is not a compliment to either .. the spring roll and soup broth was good which is the only reason for 2 stars, the food was oily, AND the FRIED RICE?!?
That had a reheated day old texture and taste that wouldn't taste good new.

tables were nasty. There was grease dripping from the wall, making me lose my appetite already. The waiter was nice though. He moved us after asking because of the nasty scenery. But the food was OK. It wasn’t to die for. However, when they brought out tempura, you would think it’s just shrimp in flour no, it was shrimp in funnel cake batter. It was also mini vegetables in funnel cake batter. This is why it has a low rating. I do not recommend it unless you are really hungry.

Went for sushi but they said "the sushi chef needs help" so they didn't have sushi. Had to go somewhere else.

No sushi

We've come here about a dozen times, and it seems the last couple of times the food has been going downhill a little bit. This time, they didn't even have a sushi bar. When asked the advice that they were so short-staffed that the sushi chef had to work in the back instead.

Used to love this place but ordered recently and they've changed some of their items not for the better. Still good service here though

The food was outstanding as was the service! We had combo meals with chicken and shrimp and steak and shrimp. The portion size allowed for to-go boxes. We would certainly visit again the next time we’re in town. Please note, however, that the building could use some cosmetic work and the sushi bar was closed.

Yamato is it very unassuming establishment. From the outside it looks like a diner that you would find anywhere. But what it lacks in aesthetic it makes up for in spades in flavor! Quite possibly the best seafood and chicken dishes I've ever eaten. Even their spring rolls are freshly made there and then. The owner puts quality into his dishes. Even his fried rice is on another level. I highly recommend this place.
