My husband and I went here to celebrate our anniversary and had a great dinner. John was our server and he was amazing. He even created a new bourbon cocktail for me, based on my preferences. All of our food was great: steaks, corn brulee, potatoes. The pumpkin creme brulee is in the top 5 desserts I've ever had. We also enjoyed watching the fire!

came in with high hopes and left rather disappointed. Place is great looking on the inside and has a good and diverse menu, I saw my waitress 2 times throughout my hour and a half or so dinner, so once my drink became empty shortly after I got my food I didn’t see anybody back until I was finished. I got the 10oz dry aged ny strip -$60, for it to taste great however it was quite tough even for the thickness and for the money and not even offered sides up-charge aside I think is pretty ridiculous. First time in the Asheville area, don’t think I’d make this a stop to check out again

Willa our server was great. We had some issues with several of our dishes, and she worked hard to rectify it. We ordered many small plates to share. Some were so salty we couldnt eat them. The shrimp wasnt cooked fully through.
At the end of evening, I stepped up to the manager on duty to tell him our server was great. His snarky reply was so unprofessional ,” I’ll be sure NOT to tell her that”.

Overpriced steak house and drinks, if you're gonna charge this much you should be Michelin.

Our server, timing, food, cocktails, ambiance, all high class and wonderful. Killer menu selection with great steak cut choices to choose from. I'm mad we haven't come here sooner. I have lived here for 5 years and we spend a good amount of time out at finer restaurants, this is easily top #3 in downtown ASH by far.

Amazing food and service on a beautiful night in Asheville celebrating my husband's birthday! Will definitely come back next time we are in town.

We were looking forward to Dinner, flying in from Jacksonville, FL. I had an 8:30 reservation. At 3:00 pm I was advised of a flight delay to Asheville. I called the restaurant to cancel the reservation. They advised me that I could move my reservation to 10:00 pm. We were very happy to be able to save our dinner plans. We arrived at the restaurant at 9:45 as there last customers seemed to be leaving and were refused seating. I guess everyone was in a hurry to go home. So much for superior service. We will never return.

From walking into the door, to walking out it, our experience was above and beyond extraordinarily great. The drinks, the food, and the service were all executed perfectly.
All four at our table are in agreement with the review. ( my pictures don't do it justice)
My brother in law wants me to mention the bourbon luge was really good fun memorable experience .

Overall, the meal was simply satisfactory, it fell short of the expectations typically associated with a farm-to-table concept. With such an approach, I look for dishes that are simple yet thoughtfully prepared; fresh, locally sourced ingredients showcased through skillful execution rather than heavy sauces or unnecessary embellishments. Entrées •Pork Chop: Very well prepared and flavorful. •Filet: Unfortunately, the portion was quite small and overcooked, with little to no seasoning to bring out the quality of the meat. Sides •Potatoes: Lacked seasoning and creativity; they resembled a plain small baked potato. A touch of thyme and lemon could have elevated the dish significantly. •Brussels Sprouts: The onion cake was an interesting addition, though the sprouts themselves needed more seasoning and a longer broil to achieve a nice char. A hint of acid; perhaps lemon, would have helped balance the flavors. The sauce beneath did not pair well and distracted from the natural taste of the Brussel. •Bread : The bun was decent, though it had the appearance of something store-bought. The orange butter was unfortunately unappealing and did not complement the bread. Service Our waiter was excellent; attentive, professional & genuinely welcoming, which made the experience more enjoyable. Overall Impression While the meal had moments of promise, it missed the mark on several details that define a great farm-to-table experience. With more attention to freshness, balance, and local sourcing, this restaurant could truly shine.

Recently had my birthday dinner here with some friends. Absolutely worth the money. The Meatballs were delicious and the Wagyu was divine!

We were here for dinner the service was phenomenal the food was really underwhelming.
If you're going to say you're serving a ribeye it better be a whole ribeye and not a square out of the tough end of a rib eye.
Ordering the sides separately is another price gouging. I don't mind spending money for a wonderful meal but don't part me out for different things! Highly dissatisfied also had to pay for a roll🥴
Wine and creme brulee was great only problem the serving was made for a child😞

We decided to give Asheville Proper a shot on our last night in Asheville, because they were one of the few fine dining restaurants downtown that offered a kids menu. The food was decent, but way overpriced for what you actually get (we got 2 10 oz T Bone steaks that appeared to be 7 oz, but had good flavor. The Oven Baked Meatballs and Tallow Confit Potato Medley were both delicious, and our 3 year old loved his Mac N’ Cheese. Unfortunately, the bathrooms were disgusting, and no one bothered to clean them (not something you expect to see in an upscale restaurant). Fortunately, our server was very kind and made it a more pleasant experience. Overall, there are so many amazing restaurants around the area that I would rather visit next time. We more than likely will not be returning to Asheville Proper, but I feel it’s worth checking out at least once.
