Bridge & Tunnel Coffee - Cafe & Roastery

I enjoy coming here. Fully vegetarian menu and everything can be made vegan (and not just as an afterthought...they clearly care about veganism). The food is good and the staff are very friendly. It's located on the campus of AB Tech but don't let that deter you, parking is a breeze. This is a great spot for a casual breakfast or lunch.

Amazing vegan options and nitro cold brew is the best in Asheville.

A must-visit! Hubs and I had the BBQ Tempeh & Kale Slaw Sandwich on sourdough bread (one with avocado, and one with kraut), and also a chocolate chip muffin, Nitro Cold Brew, and a Matcha Latte’! Everything was absolutely delicious! The young lady who took our order was super-sweet, and Bob, the owner, took time to come to our table and introduce himself! I highly recommend eating here!

My partner and I are so excited for this AMAZING addition to Asheville! We were here this morning and were blown away by the creativity and deliciousness of the bbq tempeh sandwich. We also had a nuts over chocolate smoothie that was the perfect texture and level of sweetness. The muffins were also sooooo good!!! The art on the walls is really cool, the atmosphere felt open and bright, and the staff had some of the best energy we’ve encountered. Their dedication to serving the community healthy and tasty food brightened our spirits more than words can express. Thank you for all the love and devotion you have all put into this awesome cafe!

Bridge and Tunnel is a welcoming venue with great coffees and food options. Our group meets regularly here and we love it! The large and beautiful back deck is an added bonus on nice days.

The best breakfast sandwich is AWESOME!!! Get it on a bagel, you won't be disappointed. The lattes are also fantastic! 11/10, don't sleep on this place! Updated from previous review on 2025-05-22

We got delivery to Mission Hospital as our first cafe experience (we had gotten coffee from the truck before) and it was awesome!! Fantastic customer service and delicious breakfast sandwiches

This is an addition to my original review and an admission of my error.

I agree with the response I received from the management of Bridge & Tunnel Coffee. In retrospect, I should have returned to the service counter and mentioned my perception of the Avocado on Toast to, at least, give the young lady at the counter an opportunity to rectify the situation. If the staff ignored or discounted my complaint I would have justification to write the original review and indicate the on-site response. I do need to state that their Nitro Coffee is incredibly delicious.

Original Review:
Ordered Avocado on Toasted Sourdough bread. Bread was not toasted at all!! More like whimpy cheap white bread. Avocado was an Avocado Spread that was not eatable. Looked like thro_ _p. They sprinkled some type of something on the spread. Had 1 bite hoping that visual did not represent taste and texture. Result: I threw in garbage. The Nitro cold brew was wonderful. Suggestion: Do not order the food!! Stay with coffee.

The staff were kind and engaging. It was a pleasure to eat here from a service perspective. I had the Best Breakfast Sandwich made vegan on an everything bagel and it was a fantastic mix of textures and flavors. It was a little light on flavor and too sweet at first, but I added some Cholula hot sauce from their condiment bar and that balanced it out and made it perfect. The soy latte was a real disappointment. At $6 for 12 oz. I was expecting some of the best coffee that I've ever had. Unfortunately it tasted like it came out of a vending machine - one dimensional and over roasted. It's in a college building and has a cafeteria atmosphere. I sat in the morning sun looking out the window and it was enjoyable but be aware that this doesn't have a typical cafe feel. Updated from previous review on 2025-03-12

I thought I had been to all of the vegan places in Asheville many times over. But somehow this one had invaded me. I guess because they’re only open during breakfast and lunch hours on weekdays. But I finally made it and the food was truly awesome. First of all the staff is some of the most friendly staff I’ve ever encountered. The space is very bright and wide open. It’s on the college campus. And the food was made really well, a lot of thought put into the assembly and ingredients, and it was delicious. And maybe the best part was that the prices were totally reasonable. For quality like this I was expecting the bill to be a lot higher. This place gets an A in every category, from baked goods, sandwiches, even a French toast, dish! All delicious. Just go, you won’t regret it.

food was lowkey mid, the prices are insane too. I'm used to city prices yeah, but 5$ for a cheap tasting grilled cheese is a little wild. last time I was here, there was 2 wasps flying around and that made me uncomfortable.

The food is excellent and very diverse. You can eat here regardless of whether you're vegan or vegetarian; they welcome everyone. The staff is incredibly nice and friendly, and I always enjoy chatting with them. The environment is cozy, making it a great place for getting work done.
