Had a wonderful dinner at Chestnut. Had a cocktail called Sage Against - brown butter fat-washed Makers Mark bourbon, apple, pear, sage, fall spices, walnut bitters - delicious. The lobster bisque was fantastic with lots of chunks of lobster. The juniper seared duck breast was so good -- roasted beet and sweet potato stack, parsnip puree, wilted greens, house boursin cheese, port wine demi, cranberry mostarda. Server was great. I recommend.
It was the best restaurant we ate at all week. Everything was great. The salmon was perfect and the banana fosters dessert was delicious. Staff was excellent. Much better than sister Corner Kitchen.
After visiting 5 or more times past, we were delighted once again with the wonderful food & excellent service, plus beautiful ambiance. When visiting Asheville, Chestnut is always in our top 3. Had great salad & soup before dinner. Wonderful shrimp & grits and excellent drink & wines. This is a great place downtown for fine dining, highly recommended & we’ll eagerly return.
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Chestnut – A Must-Try in Asheville! 🍽️✨ #restaurantreview #AshevilleEats #DinnerDelights Chestnut was an absolute win for dinner tonight! From the cozy vibe to the impeccable service, everything felt warm, welcoming, and wonderfully intentional. 💛✨ We tried several dishes, and WOW — every bite was incredible: 🍅 Fried Green Tomatoes – Perfectly crispy, beautifully stacked, and that pimento cheese? Pure Southern heaven! 🤤💛 🥦 Crispy Cauliflower – Light, crunchy, flavorful, and absolutely addictive. A must-order! 🌿👌 🐟 Salmon Entrée – Cooked to perfection with crisp skin and tender, juicy center. The Brussels sprouts and rich sauce tied it all together like a true chef’s creation. 🎣🔥 🍤 Hush Puppies – Golden, crunchy, and served with a dipping sauce that kept us reaching for more. Total comfort-food joy! 😍🙌 Everything was plated beautifully and tasted even better than it looked. We left happy, full, and already talking about coming back! Chestnut absolutely earns its spot as one of Asheville’s best. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ If you’re anywhere near downtown and want a memorable, delicious dinner — Chestnut is your place! 🍷✨ #ChestnutAsheville #FoodieFinds #AshevilleRestaurants #FoodLovers #TravelEats #DateNightDinner #FiveStars
Was so happy to see that they were open for brunch again. I always thought they had a nice weekday lunch / brunch and missed it after Helene. But read it was back and had to go. Delicious food and friendly service. Nice break to the day of shopping and sightseeing. First class all the way. Delicious lobster bisque.
Jay, the bartender and our server was amazing. His chocolate bourbon old fashioned was very creative. The trout and fillet were excellent. A define must visit when in Ashville.
Went for brunch with my husband on a Monday. Service was slow but mostly thorough (explained specials very well but everything was slow due to the volume she was handling), lobster bisque was delish (BIG LOBSTER CHUNKS!!) but mains were just ok. I got the daily benedict, and my egg yolks were so hard as if I had ordered them hard boiled instead of poached. Hubby's carne asada burrito was very good, and the breakfast potatoes were a good pairing. Cheese grits were mediocre. It took a while for our server to check after our food was dropped off- she said they were short staffed and that she was bartending without any training. Table was never prebussed, nor was I ever offered another bloody mary. Husband's second drink took a while, too. Manager never touched our table about our experience but did comp the benedict. Server was obviously over-extended. Also! Kinda sad that the cocktail menu online says the speed trials is garnished with ube whip, and that was a factor in deciding on where we were going to eat.
…and it was as delightful as ever. It’s a cozy place with terrific food and service. Stuart, our server this time, was masterful in being engaged without being intrusive. The Basque cheesecake was delicious.
This is a top-notch dining experience. Our server, Woody, was friendly and very knowledgeable about the menu. The kitchen staff was also very accommodating regarding an allergy and the Salmon dish was full of wonderful flavors.
Great Dining Experience, Michelin Star Ready Service, food, atmosphere, value! What more could you ask for? This was a dining Experience we will not forget. The manager and staff were stellar, and the food phenomenal. I hope someone sees my review and acknowledges the effort they make every day they are open. It takes a village, and these guys have an entire town ready to pitch in and help carry the weight of the devastation for so much of Asheville. It was disheartening to see how long it would take for the town of Asheville to recover and regain its former glory after the flooding from Tropical Storm Fred, followed by Hurricane Ida. Asheville is coming back, but not as quickly as we expected. Show your support by dining and spending money there to help their economy! We were greeted by a lovely hostess and seated promptly at our reservation time. We were then greeted happily by Ely, and Ivy they were our servers, while the manager, Cory, was attentive. When we told them the mashed potatoes were too salty, they wanted to replace them or give us something else. We said no because I wanted multiple desserts. Amuse Bouche was a single cucumber slice with frothy yet creamy goat cheese, featuring bright citrus notes and a herbaceous touch, with a hint of sweetness, possibly from vanilla? Mind-blowing, and we are just getting started! From our incredibly comfortable little booth for two, we were seated near the hostess station. We loved seeing how busy and bustling this amazing restaurant is! We watched the hostess wipe down all of the menus inside and out! It was so reassuring for two people who happen to be severely immunocompromised. Dinner was amazing. We started with Fried Oysters with a delicious creamy beautiful dollop of Benton’s Bacon Aioli, with heirloom tomatoes and baby arugula, and ordered the Petite filet, and the mushroom pithivier Banana Fosters Cake with Brown Butter Sauce and Spiced Pecans with Vanilla Ice Cream. It was truly mind-blowing! This was by far my favorite dessert! We also ordered the stone fruit cobbler with vanilla ice cream. The chocolate caramel tart was fudge-like and decadent. Yes, we left stuffed like a couple of Thanksgiving turkeys, but we were very happy!

Probably our favorite meal/experience in Asheville. Delicious food, our waitress from our hometown area ( Newport News, VA) was so personable and professional, and we had the best time sitting outside and enjoying all the characters driving and walking by. Definitely recommend the watermelon gazpacho, the tuna teridito and the snickers pie was to die for! Thank you for a fantastic night.
We really enjoyed brunch here (twice in the last week!), and Grace did a wonderful job explaining specials and answering our questions re menu items. Chef's "whimsy of the day' benedict was amazing! Great/solid brunch menu with something for everyone. Beautiful dining space and delicious food. Highly recommend!
And easy walk from the hotel and one of a few restaurants open on Monday evening. I'm so glad I found this place comfortable decor very friendly staff. Small but mighty wine by the glass list. Enjoyed Vinho Verde from Portugal with scrumptious swordfish, so many flavors going on with excellent presentation. Couldn't resist dessert had the peach trifle it was out of this world yummy.
While visiting Asheville, we met a local business associate for dinner. We had never been to Chestnut, and our friend was very happy with our choice. We saw why that evening. We were warmly welcomed by the staff, our server took great care of us, the wine list was quite broad, and the meal was delicious. The salad was delightful, the filet mignon melted in our mouths, the seafood paella was perfectly spicy, and the cheesecake was smooth and not too sweet. A great evening!
Chestnut is nothing short of fantastic. Not only was the food delicious (every course), but the service and the atmosphere could not have been better. My only regret is we visited on our last day of vacation and could not go twice.
