Holy smokes! What a wonderful bar and extremely knowledgeable bartenders. I wish I could stop there, but Tony and Nick are super friendly and make you feel at home. We tried a lot of cocktail bars in Asheville and kept going back to them for the best cocktails in town. Talk about the utmost of care and service, Kyle, the manager looked out for every need we had. We will go back every time we are in town!

We stayed in the hotel for 3 nights and enjoyed the live music. Two nights we were served by Kelly Adams and she did a fantastic job. Great place to hang out after dark.

Spent Christmas Eve 2024 with family in Asheville and our dinner and cocktails at District 42 were delicious. Amazing pianist, great lighting, very friendly staff. Look forward to visiting again.

Wow. What an awful welcome. The two guys behind the bar refused to make eye contact or acknowledge our presence. I guess it was 9:50 and they wanted to leave by 10. The bar and lobby are beautiful but don’t go in to spend any money because they just don’t care. I bet the management doesn’t care enough to respond.

After hiking all afternoon, stopped by District 42 for an evening cocktail. Found that Matt who has been serving in the dining room the other evening was behind the bar. We were treated with masterful cocktails and conversation. The wood smoker used for certain drinks was fascinating. Matt is a true artist and professional and, operated the bar in a friendly but business-like manner. He and the other bartender worked perfectly together, were efficient, and beat. We were greatly impressed and look forward to returning.

Beautiful bar area within the Kimpton Hotel in downtown Asheville. Nice bartenders that really put extra effort when making drinks. They brewed fresh espresso for my martini, which always makes it taste so much better. Had a great time. Will definitely be coming back.

My family & I ate dinner here on Christmas Eve and I'm glad we did. District 42 and Bargello are sister restaurants are co-located which is cool but had our hostess a little confused on our reservation when we checked in at the wrong host stand since they're not clearly designated. There was a live pianist who was FIRE! The service was not as great as I'd expect given the atmosphere but they were short-staffed so tehy get a pass for that. The food definitely had a standout performance. Everyone cleaned their plate. Definitely a great spot for date night or happy hour drinksMust try: crab & shrimp dip with fried pita (20/10)

My husband and I stumbled upon District 42 on our trip to Asheville. We arrived from Florida on Thanksgiving night and we were a bit nervous as most restaurants were closed. However, the outside ambiance of District 42 drew us in. We had our dog with us and we were worried if they were going to serve us outside. They stated it wasn't a problem! Our server Lauren, was extremely attentive and gave water to our dog. We had expresso martinis (delicious!). I had the chicken Caesar salad while my husband had a gourmet burger. What a wonderful "Thanksgiving meal" it was! Overall, we would definitely be back!!

The reviews were misleading. The pizza, which is the majority of the menu, was not good at all. The flavor was lacking anything impressive. There is so much good food around downtown Asheville, I would not waste my time or money here again.

Food is extremely overpriced for what it is. We don't mind paying for good food but this wasn't it. $14 for a Prosecco. Almost $20 for a Caesar salad that they don't bother to cut, they give you entire leaves with one small dressing. Burger was overcooked and dry, small patties. Server didn't check on us and served another table prior to ours when we had reservations and they came after. Ambiance itself is nice, otherwise would not recommend, so many other quality places in Asheville with great food-don't waste your time.

We stayed at the Kimpton and went here both nights. The first night was great, bartender was so friendly and accommodating. We had hummus this night and it was great. The next night was not good. Our waitress, Alex was not very friendly. Seemed very annoyed with us for no apparent reason. We asked for napkins after we finally got our food, and she seemed annoyed and slapped a bunch of cocktail napkins on our table. Hummus was very good again, falafel crumbled like breadcrumbs when we cut into it (very dry), the polpette (meatballs) had a great sauce but were rubber texture (wife literally couldn’t cut through them). I’d say this place is a coin flip whether or not you’ll have a good experience.
