WOW! Best Latin food in town! Eric our server was great and Hector and his staff are masterminds in the kitchen! 10/10 would recommend
This place is amazing!!! I’m not the easiest person to please when it comes to food, but I’m so happy I gave this place a shot after reading less than impressive reviews. My friend and I ordered a taco, fried yuca, rice and beans, and their fried cheese plate. Even the hot sauce is full of flavor. I’m definitely going to take all my friends and family here! ????
We were disappointed by the quality of the food: pork tacos lacked quality (too much gristle) and shrimp was overcooked and not fresh. Guacamole was good. Service was casual, but to be fair, it was a busy day for the town with a Thanksgiving Parade, and I suspect they were all exhausted by early evening.
Had some great tacos over there definitely recommend! Can’t wait to try more. The quesabirria taco was probably my favorite.
Oh my! I walked past many restaurants and found this one a little off the beaten path. Ordered one beef taco and one mushroom taco. Done of the best tacos I've eaten. Beef was juicy and the mushrooms were fresh and grown local. Definitely recommend.
We were waiting more than 15 min to be waited, after hostess sat us down and gave us H2O. Places looks busy, but the lack of manpower to offer a good customer services. We get up and left.
Amazing margaritas! Food you can’t get anywhere else. Fabulous service. This was my 3rd visit and I can’t wait to come back!
Food was good. Small location, minimum seating.
Great open air seating at the street front. I ordered the Arroz Picadillo and was pleasantly surprised to find such a mosaic of flavor in a GF/Vegetarian dish. This dish is an entree and was the perfect amount of food for my famished, barely-made-it-to-the-restaurant condition. I considered ordering a starter to tie myself over, but that would have been far too much food for the typical solo diner. The place was nearly empty when I arrived just before 8pm but quickly filled in as I was leaving. I believe their hours say closing is at 9pm, but I didn't see any breaks coming their way by the time I left on this Thursday evening. I'm glad to see good business coming their way!
i’m not one to write reviews, when i do they are only for extreme circumstances. when i tell you this was the worst dining experience of my entire life i mean that with my whole heart. we were visiting for the day and wanting to eat mexican food. we just chose the closest one without looking at the menu or reviews because we were starving after a long day of travel. it took almost 10 minutes to be sat even though the place was almost completely empty. the place has an open window bar in the front, when we walked in the weather app said it was 53 degrees out and we were already cold, they also had multiple fans running, we asked to be sat farther away from the open window which we didn’t think to be a big request due to the restaurant some how being deserted at 7:30 on a Saturday night. we were sat close to the front but just decided to let it go. they brought us a water jar of luke warm water off a dusty shelf in the front host stand area. it was unsealed and there were multiple jars sitting up there and it just seemed extremely unsanitary. next we see the menu, there were almost more appetizers than actual menu items. 4 taco options, 4 or 5 entrees and 2 side items. the appetizers are listed as “snacks” which was extremely accurate. upon receiving our appetizer there was maybe a handful of chips at most. when we asked for some more chips after finishing them quickly with half the dip left. we were brought an even smaller bowl of chips. next came the food, we ordered picadillo, but it was absolutely nothing like described. wasn’t even able to finish half. the tacos were even worse somehow. they were 10% meat 90% cilantro, even though cilantro wasn’t listed on the menu as being in them?!?! The side order of rice and beans came in a single bowl mixed together?!?! the beans and rice was mostly rice and bean juice however. that was also not listed on the menu. when we finally got our check we were blown away. 1 appetizer, 1 entree, 1 beer, 5 bite size tacos and a side. our bill was over 75 dollars before tip. end of story never in my life will i return, our group was almost tempted to warn the people waiting to be seated what horrors were in store for them but decided against it. i wish i could less than one star at times like this.

WOW! The food was AMAZING! The tacos we're so fresh and packed with bright flavors, and the queso was addicting ? the staff were so so friendly and attentive, if you're in Asheville you must check this place out!
NEVER AGAIN!Firstly the service is THE WORST I've ever experienced in a restaurant. Considering we currently live in Miami that's a lot to say considering miami service is known for not being great. It took us 30 min to even put in an order after I asked the waiter (named Terrell W on our check) we were ready twice. When we asked to split our check our server said " it's easier if you just split it yourself because I have things to do". When asked what he had to do considering the place was empty he said he rather go home with an insanely rude attitude. Beside the service the food is INSANELY overpriced which fine we're in downtown AVL but in the very least if we're paying $5 for a tiny taco I'd expect it to be good. Every taco (the steak, pork, and chicken taco) tasted as if an entire container of salt was poured on it. Absolutely inedible. Unless you want to be bloated for two hours after eating three small tacos and treated like garbage, I suggest you avoid this place at all cost. Its no surprise this place was completely empty at 7 o'clock on a Saturday. I won't be coming back again. Management should really reconsider their choice in staff if they're planning on staying open much longer.Edit: as we were walking out Terrell yelled at us "I hope you never come back here again!" I went back to tell the manager which Terrell hearing me said " yea I said that." Manager did nothing. As a Latin person this restaurant is an offense to all Latin cultures by masquerading as a Latin food joint. This place is disgusting in more ways than one. One star is too many for “El Gallo”.
Probably one of the worst servers I’ve had during my 10 years in Asheville. Being told it’s too hard to spilt a check and to never come back is next level.
Randomly stopped at this restaurant with my family a few weeks ago because their menu caught our eyes. The food was absolutely delicious and the waiter was such a sweetheart! I would highly recommend their quesabirria tacos, the yucca fries with the vegan cheese dip & the aguachille de camarone!! The bathrooms are pretty dope as well.
Great drinks!! Loved the artwork there, gave the place a really chill vibe. Ordered their version of chips & salsa and that was also amazing.
