Absolutely top-notch homemade Mexican ice cream. Juan and his family make the ice cream and ice cream bars by hand. Everything they serve is an in-house creation. Everything from ice cream to chips and chamoyada. The only authentic Mexican ice cream in the area.

Found El Rio on Apple map search. Kinda hard to find in the strip mall it's in, but it did not disappoint. DELICIOUS homemade ice cream, super creamy, amazing assortment of flavors. and you'll learn about different South American fruits that the ice cream is made of

Count El Rio among the top local ice cream shops. They make their own in their Hendersonville shop and send it to Asheville- lucky us. I had the unique tequila and the horchata ice creams. Both were subtle, thick, creamy and delicious. I give them high marks for both "mouth feel" and flavor balance. Wow. El Rio is a hidden treasure, tucked away in an industrial strip mall in Emma (NW Asheville) 10 minutes from downtown, hard to spot but well worth finding!
