Very rich!

I went to get a dozen or so corn tortillas to try. It's very sketchy and has piles of junk outside. Not very good signage. You have to know it's there next door to the gas station. However, the corn tortillas were fairly fresh, and good.

The food i had their was AMAZING! The tamales almost melted in my mouth. They had a chicken and salsa verde filling that they were very generous with. The chicken was beautifully tender and the flavor of the salsa was perfect. Not in any way too spicy for me, but it did have a nice little kick to it. The masa was nice and moist and fluffy. I had the tacos as well, but my meat was cooked on the grill right in front of me. The seasoning was on point. They were simple and traditional but very well done. With it being a tortilleria they use their own homemade tortillas which makes everybit of difference. They are so thick and, again, moist. And so flavorful! You can really taste the corn. As far as customer service goes, I had a pleasant experience. The women who took my order was the one who cooked as well. I thought she was sweet and did her job very well. I think spanish was easier for her than english, so maybe a language barrier caused this jeremy character to have a bad experience. Anyways... the tacos and ESPECIALLY the tamale were way better than almost any mexican food i've had around here. and also what i assume is a house made hot sauce is also DELICIOSA!!!!! love love love this place and I'm so happy I stopped and tried it. It is connected to a gas station so it doesn't look like it would be an amazing eatery. But try it! Also, I think the cleanest kitchen i've ever seen. They might have all new equipment but their entire grill is SHINY!

I was humming down Patton in the McStylesMobile when suddenly, out of the corner of my eye, I caught the word 'Tortillaria'. I made a mental note as to the location and knew I was gonna have to check into it sooner than later. Turned out to be sooner than that. A little research online revealed that not only did they make tortillas, but they also had a small counter where you could grub on tacos and the like. The next afternoon I grabbed the Senora and headed back that way. Talk about hole in the wall; they have 4 bar stools at their tiny counter and standing room for about 5, maybe. The menu was simple and, with the exception of their burrito offering, consisted solely of authentic comida mexicana. The shredded chicken tacos came on fresh corn tortillas with cilantro and onions. There was certainly no shortage of chicken and the green salsa had just the right amount of kick. Prices were a tad higher than I thought theyd be for where I was (Tacos were $1.75 each) but were still worth every penny. Turns out a quarter kilo of flour tortillas (about 15 of them) were only $1.25. That certainly trumps what you pay for the crap ones you find at Ingles and just about anywhere else, that are more preservatives than they are tortillas. I will be returning to Mr. Sauve for a little more of this and that in the near future.

Great, authentic tacos and some enticing burritos.

The five is for awesome, hot, fresh corn tortillas. You get a kilo for $2.50. Hard for most households to consume them all without making chiliquiles. Soft, but not crumbly, like store bought. The food ... Gets a two or three...ok. Tacos, Tortas, quilequiles, enchiladas...are ordered at a counter and you can eat on picnic tables outside. The tacos are only ok as the meat was made by them but frozen and quickly microwaved. They have tongue tacos. Food gets a two or three only based on the frozen taco meat. I will stop to get tortillas every time I drive by and make my own Carne tacos later.
