Our first time trying Old School Subs & Salads was a game-changer. No other sub places need apply. By far the best sub sandwich I've had in a long time and I'm now committed to trying everything on their menu. What a great experience to walk into a new (to us) shop and be greeted with a friendly welcome! Every member of the crew was friendly and conversational. Made us feel right at home. The atmosphere is very casual and comfortable with a fun mural on the wall and a good amount of indoor seating. Looks like additional outdoor seating is also available on warm days. Old School Subs is now our go-to place in Asheville for sandwiches hot and cold.

This is one of those places where when I discovered it I had to really hold myself back from eating there every day of the week. Just thinking about it makes me need my Old-School Subs fix! I always try to sop up the coleslaw sauce left in the cup or even drink it if nobody’s looking. I sometimes underestimate the importance of the bread when craving a sub and that’s what sets this place apart, the bread being pillowy soft and fresh made and very unique.And then sometimes if you eat somewhere, give it a couple or even a few chances and you might find you really like it and if you went here and didn’t have a good experience, I feel like you just need to give it another shot because I loved it first time I went and from then on.

I've found *the* sub shop in Asheville! You can tell they make their subs with not only fine fresh ingredients, but also with care and love. Way better than those chains like F***house Subs or J*****y Mikes. Can't wait to try the whole menu now that I know this is the joint.

Great friendly staff. Got the 6 inch muffaletta sandwich. Excellent flavor and the bread was great! Looking forward to trying some of their other sandwiches.

Wow! So good! One of our little ones wanted a sandwich and this was the closest to where we were. He loved it and we did too! We will definitely be back to try some more sandwiches. The folks were so friendly too!

I went in with pretty high expectations. Folks said they had a killer philly and I love a philly.I got the 12" which is a large portion, but I was going to make two meals out of it. When I lifted it to take it home, I could tell it was gonna be a bummer. It was way too light.The bread to meat ratio was about 2:1 in favor of bread. And I love bread. But by nearly 3pm when I was there, the freshness had worn off.So I had a loaf of dry bread with dry meat and some melted cheese that had long since evaporated into the bread and meat.I ended up scraping the meat off half the bread and had a solid, if dry, 6" philly. It was underseasoned and truly forgettable, and that bums me out.The little side potato salad was also underwhelming. If there was anything in it beside potato, mayo, salt and pepper, I missed it.The lady working there was super friendly, the dude a little gruff in a Bob's Burgers kinda way, and the inside was sparse. Parking is a little funky, you have to pull into the gravel out front. The lots on either end are private.

This is top notch subs here fresh bread and meats also vegetables. Friendly and peaceful circumference. I Highly recommend if you like subs when you leave you will love subs. Very affordable as well and close to downtown also interstate 40 & 240. I’ll be back AsapParking: Always found parking due the plentiful spaces available in parking lot also of road parking

Nice little shop right on the road, with super friendly staff and a laid-back small sandwich shop atmosphere. I had the turkey Philly sub, which tasted excellent, and had a little to it. My significant other had a special, the Sriracha beef sub. We'll have to go back again. The bread tasted like it was made in house, and all the ingredients were nice and fresh.

Not only is the food excellent, the owners are onsite and CLEARLY take pride in their business. This is evedanced by the "A" health rating with a 100% score on the report. A great place to hang for lunch. Highly recommend. (Former restauranteur)

The sandwiches are incredibly yummy and fresh. They make their own bread, roast beef, potato salad, and coleslaw. I am not a potato salad fan, but I love it! The employees are incredibly friendly. If you just want to an good old sub this is the place to be.
