This review will be glowing and for a good reason!
I have no idea why this isn’t in our regular rotation of restaurants. We’ve been living here a couple of decades and I have a radio show down the street on 103.3FM, and we go to all the restaurants around this restaurant, but we just never seemed to go here that much. That will certainly change, because everything was delicious!
I started with a dozen oysters which quickly turned into two dozen oysters. Nice and big, served the typical southern way with horseradish and saltine crackers and cocktail sauce. None of the fancy oddness that comes with some other types of oysters. Just good classic stuff!
Speaking of classic, my husband got the oyster po’ boy and loved it. At first he asked for extra remoulade, and the server forgot it, but by the time she got back, he let her know he really didn’t need it. It’s rare that this sandwich is so well flavored that it does not need extra remoulade. I thought it was just perfect.
I had the étouffée. I love a good étouffée. I want to to have just the right amount of spice and just the right amount of crawfish. Although, I could eat pounds of crawfish, and it would never be enough. The sausages were excellent it had enough crawfish. The flavoring was really good. I could have done with another helping of rice, but that was just because I wanted to soak up all the extra sauce.
We did not have dessert, because we had been baking cookies for weeks at home, and so we had tons left over.
For drinks we had the rotating gingers revenge, which we often have, and we often frequent their taproom as well. And I had a really nice half pour of beer to go with my oysters and a nice house Red to go with my étouffée.
Server was excellent without being intrusive.
My only complaint is that it was a little chilly. But with a big glass window, I suppose that could not be avoided. If I had one suggestion it would be to turn up the heat a little bit in the winter time!
We will be back. I’m craving the étouffée already.
Parking: It’s a west Asheville miracle! They have a parking lot in the back.
Kid-friendliness: Totally fine for kids. We saw a couple of kids while we were there.

Update your hours... it really sucks to drive all the way to a restaurant to find you're now closing 2 hours before the time on your Google listing.
Update: I attempted to give them a second chance and I'm now standing in the cold because this week they decided not to open on Monday. If you can't be f'd to update Google or even your own Web site, don't run a restaurant.
Cute eclectic dice house! The blue cheese oysters and ruemalaude sauce was a show stopper! Load soul and rap music for an early lunch was a bit much but I enjoyed it and would go back! The staff was so kind and attentive !

If you love oysters, you need to give this place a try! I had the oyster shot and the oyster hamburger. The food was seasoned well and very fresh. Very unique spot in Asheville.

My husband and I are what I would consider regulars as to the fact that if we go out it's to The Oyster House. The waitresses always know us. We went this past Friday. A sweet waitresses that has not been there long, but we have had her. I asked about her tattoo , that was on her stomach. I asked what it was, she replied " That she was not going to pull her shirt up to show me" I didn't ask her to do so. I just asked what it was
I understand it's not my business. But the service was spottie after that. Which I can understand it was half my fault. But we love this place, it's always been our favorite. I didn't mean to hurt anyone's feelings.
Delicious beer and food. Great service. Love people watching on their outside seating area.
Etoufee is amazing. Red beans and rice are so great. Server even brought out some of the extra bean juice to really drive up the flavor. Really cool people and the food is so good. Got a hot tip from a local while here for the weekend and we're so glad we came. Thanks, y'all.

Best restaurant in town! We frequent oyster house and it’s always exactly what we are looking for. My favorite items: oysters (of course), the peel and eat shrimp, and the fish and chips. But you can’t go wrong, it’s all amazing.
Parking: Easy to access free parking lot behind the building

Visiting from out of town and looking for a place with food and beer when we found this one on Google. Very pleased overall. They have a nice little patio area and the inside is very pleasant as well. They do very small batch brewing on premise so don't expect a huge variety. We tried two of their stouts which were good. We then started out with a plate of oysters which were delicious. The bartender then suggested their bourbon pimento Mac n cheese which was awesome. We followed it up with a monk fish and risotto special they had. The monk fish tasted great but I was equally impressed with the risotto. All of this for under $100. Very pleased and highly recommend.

Disappointed that the oysters on the half shell were so miniscule that if it weren't for the cracker and cocktail sauce I wouldn't have known I ate anything. The blue cheese oysters were mostly breading but I like blue cheese so that helped. I realize this isn't oyster season and not a coastal restaurant so I get it. Been here many times when I'm in Asheville and always love it but this time wasn't the greatest. Beer was good. Pain killer was good. I think the rest of my party who didn't get oysters were happy. I will go back but this just wasn't their day. Good service. Good parking.
Parking: Never had a problem parking.

Great service and atmosphere, the food does it's job but the seasoning got lost in translation from creole to straight up bar food.

Oysters from the north-east probably mean local ones seasoned a-la north-east. Good beer. Very good grilled seafood.

We loved this little place! We were visiting the area from Michigan. Sat outside our first night. The staff was very friendly and made us feel welcome. The food was amazing. We had fried oysters and a crab cake to start. So fresh and flavorful. Fish and chips and the shrimp and crab salad were perfect. The fries are seasoned so good. Drinks were good, were not beer drinkers. Our second night we went back for fried oysters and fries, had to have another crab cake too! We were greeted like locals with a warm hello and what did you do today. The Margarita and the Pain Killer were soooo good! They overheard us mention it was our anniversary and a piece of their homemade key lime pie was suddenly on the table. Amazing! Best I’ve ever had. Wish we could go back more often but will definitely search it out if get back down this way again.

Good spot! Went on a Friday evening. We were happy to see a free parking lot behind their building. Walked right in and were seated immediately. Menu had lots of different fish options. Wife and I split the crawfish dip appetizer. Dip was very good with lots of fish. Bread was outstanding! Crust wasn't too hard and the inside was so fluffy and soft. I had the etoufee. It was very good. My wife had the fish and chips, which were well executed. The Moonstone Stout on nitro was perfect! Not too roasty or sweet. Great creamy head. Just perfectly done stout. Service was excellent too.
