The soup dumplings are fantastic, as are the green beans. The dan dan noodles are very different than all other Dan Dan noodles I've had- they're watery and without the peanut flavor, and kind of bland. I wouldn't recommend them if you're craving traditional dan dan, maybe wouldn't recommend at all, and I didn't like the mushroom dumplings as much as I hoped (flavor fell a bit flat). For the price I did expect a bit more. I would try other menu items and I'll update this review as I do.

I enjoyed the food & liked the tapas small portions to share. The waitress & server were very helpful in our decisions to decide what dishes to try. Had a nice table by a window even though it overlooked the parking lot. We both enjoyed the dining experience.

This was a horrific experience. Fair warning, I can not speak to the quality of the food but I would never, EVER patron this establishment based on what occurred. I was visiting a friend who grew up in the area and she had mentioned that she was craving a specific item off Red Ginger's menu. To be fair- she emphasized how good they were, to the extent that we had already eaten but she really wanted it. She intended to get it to go but I said that if she wanted to enjoy it, we could sit so she have it fresh. When we arrived, the hostess was behind the counter and asked how many would be sitting. We responded that it was just the two of us, she nodded, grabbed menus, and walked out from behind the counter to seat us. Then she saw my service dog. She immediately stopped, stared, and asked if he was service dog, to which I replied that he is. Then she started looking around and this is when things went south. She went back behind the counter and whispered to the man standing there. (I don't know who this man was- whether he is an owner, a manager, a host, or what- but I will say that if he is not the owner, he absolutely needs a very serious sit-down with management. And if he is an owner, he needs to seriously rethink his behavior because he is going to eventually find himself the subject of a lawsuit if it continues.) The woman started craning her neck and looking out at the patio to see if seats were available. There were not. In addition to that, there had been no problem with us being seated right away indoors 20 seconds earlier. Furthermore, the temperature outside had dropped drastically and she did not inquire as to whether we WANTED to sit on the patio. The two whispered again and I started getting agitated but didn't show it. I simply said, "It's not a problem, he can sit anywhere." What I meant to convey was that he wouldn't be in the way but side note, businesses are not legally permitted to restrict access- in this case to indoor seating. She responded "we don't want him close to other customers, it will bother people." This response sent me over the edge, so I responded emphatically but in a calm voice, "You are not allowed to discriminate against service animals. He sits under the table or under my chair. We are allowed to sit indoors." This is when the man became unhinged. I mean seriously, unhinged. He began yelling at me, "I KNOW WHAT YOU ARE DOING!" ...??? What I was doing was not a secret. I wanted to be seated. I have no idea what else he was implying. He continued raising his voice to the point of being hysterical and then took a wad of straws and thrust them toward my face in a stabbing motion. I was completely taken aback and said again, "You are not allowed to discriminate against service animals and we would like to be seated." THEN he screamed that he was calling the police and at this point, I did raise my voice and yelled back "Please do sir!" My friend was utterly shocked and I was physically shaking. Everyone seated within earshot watched the entire event. It was embarrassing and infuriating. This man was very literally attacking us for something HE was doing wrong. They wouldn't tell other guests that they can't be seated with wheelchairs or canes and by law, a service animal is no different. I wish he HAD called the police and having sat on this for two weeks in order to ensure I am not reacting emotionally, I have decided to file a complaint with the ADA. I fully realize that my experience will not impact the average customer who is just there for the food, but it says a ton about the service. Everyone needs to make their own judgement calls on who and what they decide to support, but I would never give money to a business who treats anyone the way that we were treated. I am thoroughly disgusted at not only how the entire thing was handled, but also the aggressiveness and actual physical intimidation that was used. I have gone through a lot having had a service dog for nearly nine years, but t

Stippednin for lunch without planning and was overjoyed at how delicious the food was. The string bean dish was our favorite. Simple but done right. All of the food we sampled was wonderful and delicious and our waitress Jes was sweet and amazing. Would definitely eat here again and again.

Had delicious dim sum at Red Ginger in a nicely appointed restaurant. Both food and service were very good. We were seated right away and brought water while we looked at drinks. There were 4 of us so we ordered several dishes including dan dan noodles, pork dumplings Shanghai style ,lettuce wraps, green beans, and chicken chow fun. Absolutely a delicious treat!

By chance, almost immediately myself and 8 other girls on a bachelorette party were sat on a busy Saturday evening. The food and drinks came out so quickly and just kept coming. The service was fantastic. Could not have been a better experience. Thank you Red Ginger! One note: if you have celiac disease, you shouldn't expect to be able to eat here. Our server noted that she didn't trust that the kitchen staff would be able to handle the food in order to avoid soy sauce. Therefore, one of our friends couldn't eat.

Red ginger is my favorite restaurant in Asheville due to the incomparable flavor palate the restaurant always has to offer. The food is always fresh, delicious, and we leave with food for the next few meals. Staff is very helpful and informative, and the drink menu is extensive as well as the food. Plenty of indoor and outdoor seating. Very classy, exquisite joint!

Waiter was FIVE stars -Kells. Kells YOU ROCK. Perfect advice on the food. Sadly when I went rogue and ordered the roasted pork that was the only thing we didn't like. As my son put it "miss" The rest- OUTSTANDING. The won ton soup, the sushi, the soup dumplings. Very unique too. Good vibe--lively, upbeat. Good find.

Its located in Downtown Asheville, so parking is a little harder to find and its mostly paid parking space everywhere. When we get to the restaurant, its pretty busy, but they were able to sit us within few mins. Their service is pretty quick! The food in my opinion is excellent! Very tasteful! We ordered a bunch of different food. Young chow friend rice, salt/pepper prawn, calamari, different variety of dimsum plates. Highly recommended if you are in the area!
