Have to try The Hop in Black Mtn. Hand-crafted ice cream made with local ingredients! They even have ice cream for your canine friend! #icecream #blackmtndining

I was visiting Ashville from out of town and decided to go to this ice cream parlor because it was close to the campsite I was staying in. The service was good, and the atmosphere was fine, but the ice cream was overpriced, watery (I didn't get the vegan or vegetarian options), and the banana split didn't contain a banana. It also didn't have the traditional strawberry or sometimes pineapple syrup that you find on a traditional banana split. I also felt the ice cream was too sweet and it had an unpleasant taste.

An amazing vegan ice cream cake and design. Will definitely use them again

A “must” for anyone visiting Asheville. Staff was friendly and did great job explaining flavors. The line was long but moved quickly. As someone who always gets sprinkles, I loved that they are free! It’s the little things that make your day.

If you are out and about in Asheville, I definitely recommend stopping and getting a scoop (or more) at The Hop. The normal flavors (vanilla and chocolate) are just average. But the rotating flavors are exceptional and inventive. They are also made with local ingredients which is a plus. Ice cream is above average, but not quite creamy enough to warrant 5 stars.

Continuously impressed with the flavors and high quality of their ice cream! The special collaborations with local shops/farms etc make for exciting options. One of my favorite local desert spots!

Do NOT get the brownie. It’s essentially a cinder block. The kid behind the counter tried to warn me and I grabbed one anyway.DO get the bulldog tracks. It’s perfect. Smooth and creamy vanilla mixed with gorgeous brownie chunks (if they’re the same as the one I fussed about earlier, ice cream turns them gold) and globs of chocolate sauce. It’s exactly the combo I’m in search of when I want ice cream. At $8 a pint it’s on par with what you’re paying at the grocery store for a boutique brand, but local. Support local.

Best dairy free ice cream around. Great for lactose intolerant folks

Amazing ice cream. Friendly and helpful staff. Several convenient locations in Asheville. Why would you go anywhere else for ice cream??

My wife and I got married last weekend, and we had our wedding cake made by the Hop. My wife has a long list of dietary restrictions, and the Hop is a favorite spot of ours because of all of the dairy-free options. Ashley, the owner of The Hop, was an absolute pleasure to deal with. After I gave her a checklist of all of the necessary foods to avoid, she created a custom cake that was both delicious and perfectly safe for my wife to enjoy. I’d recommend The Hop to anybody looking for an ice cream cake for a special event!
