This is by far my most favorite restaurant in Asheville! They serve truly authentic delicious Japanese food (pick-up only now.) I have never been disappointed by the food or the service!

wakuWaku has been nourishing our family nearly every week before and during this pandemic. The food is prepared with such love and attention and it comes through in the flavor and our happy full bellies. Highly recommend this restaurant!

Love this place! I love when they put little happy and encouraging messages on their Togo. My last message said “breath” and it made me smile. Staff and food are great.

I dropped by Waku Waku Eatery during our vacation in Asheville. I’m a native Japanese and can clearly tell you their food is REAL Japanese food! Not Americanized but authentic Japanese food that I used to eat at home when I was growing up. I got bento-box for myself and a $2 kid’s bento box (super reasonable!) for my son. My son kept saying ‘Oishi! (means yummy in Japanese)’ while he was eating it. I guarantee you will experience authentic and hearty Japanese food at Waku Waku eatery! I look forward to returning there someday again.
What a fantastic place. Fresh fresh fresh. And healthy. Prepared with attention to detail even for a takeout order. I’ll definitely return.

I've been a lot of places and eaten all the things along the way. WakuWaku Eatery is in my all time top 10. The staff has been pleasant 100% of my visits which is a rarity these days. The pricing is also very reasonable for this area. I love this place.

This restaurant really is a gem in Asheville and a kind of food I feel like our town was missing. A nice array of items and I certainly have my favorites! Waku is where you go when you want food that feels like it was made by a family member.

Truly some of the most delicious food in Asheville! WakuWaku hits "comfort" out of the park with tasty Japanese street food and incredible, friendly service that has community in mind. Everything on their varied menu is awesome. I am especially fond of the miso soup and love to dip all the good fried things in their WakuWaku sauce, balanced by the rotating healthy obanzai sides. Their food and charm will have you coming back and sharing this special place with friends!

WakuWaku is a washoku-style Japanese restaurant. Washoku is a very traditional Japanese meal with a main, soup, rice and small servings of vegetables usually including pickles. Washoku is less well known than sushi or ramen and a rare find outside of Japan. WakuWaku offers karage, Okonomiyaki, Tonkatsu, chicken-Katsu, rice dishes, and side vegetables such as lotus root salad and seaweed salad. We love WakuWaku and find it a welcoming place with carefully prepared food after our three years living in Japan.
The food is fantastic! Highly recommend!
