“Have been eating there for almost 60 years, personally I think it's the best there is. I tried it in Chicago, Montreal, Maine, New York, Miami, no BBQ like that except Eastern North Carolina and it's the best there is, I drove a tracktor trailers and searched some, after I tried in state after state in different areas, None of them are close. Sam's BBQ in Greenville NC is a close second and he is even kin to Pete.“

“We drove by on Wednesday around 11:30am and the number of cars in the parking lot was a big surprise. Went inside and joined the line. The menu boards were a little confusing for first-time visitors and the atmosphere is no frills but as the bare necessities. After enjoying the fantastic food, the never ending line of customers and busy parking lot make perfect sense. It was so worth it! My bbq chicken was awesome. My husband devoured his fried catfish and said that the Lima beans were the best he’d ever had. It was so good that we are planning a return trip for tomorrow (Saturday). Don’t miss out! “Went for dinner tonight and Spencer was so nice and helpful. He promptly helped us upon arriving and delivered our meals to the table. We said something about wanting butter. He stopped cleaning and brought it to us without us even asking him. This gentleman was awesome!!! The food itself was luke warm but Spencer's customer service made us over look that and enjoy our meal.“

“I like this restaurant and the service was good but for the past few months I have noticed a decline in food at many restaurants. This steak looked nice but I noticed it looked like a pork chop more than a hand carved steak, it didn't have that red meat appearance. It was very uniform like a machine cut not a butcher shop. It was bland like it had not been salted or brined before broiling. It looked good but this steak was greyish, bland and sorta dull. I didn't finish it, it went in the doggy box as an ok steak but nothing to brag about. It was probably a flattop instead of a grilled steak. Not flavorful...“
