the food was great, but the server we had assigned on christmas day, was terrible, never smiled, talked to us very rude, and didn’t even try explaining anything to us, and to finish we said merry Christmas and she responded “YEP”

This place obviously is annoyed by the tourists and does not seem happy or proud of what they do or what food they have to offer. We were sat down and before even getting silverware or menus, the server rolls her eyes and let out a huge sigh that they are out of basically everything on the menu (who does that?) She didn't even offer any drinks, but we asked if we could just have waters while we wanted to look over the menu. The server just looks at us and walks away. We decided to walk out after feeling like we weren't welcome and just got some pizza down the road (we were literally the only customers in there). I personally have never felt more unwelcome or uncomfortable as I did there. The owners and staff obviously need to find another buisness to get into because everyone there seemed pretty soul draining. If you work hard for your money and want to spend it somewhere worth while... look anywhere other than this place. And no, we were never brought even a water lol.

A steak house that doesn’t know how to cook a steak 😂. No apologies from the chef either. Terrible experience, would not recommend. I came here hungry after a long day of skiing, and left without eating. Huge let down.

It's okay. The servers are friendly, but the food is hit and miss. It seems to draw locals to it. It's not extremely special. Good desserts, though. Half the place has really good views of the mountains or Beech Mt. Ski slopes.

Always a great experience, whether we stayed at the inn, or cabin rental. I’ve eaten here many times, always on point. Thanks Steve
Wonderful food, drinks, and even better service! Our server, Jane, was so incredibly sweet and helpful. Her hospitality alone will bring us back to eat there again with our family! Thank you!

Long wait, bad food. Comparable to frozen dinners. Not fine dining.

We ate at Alpen this evening. Service was unfortunately slow, but management addressed the issue professionally and humbly.
Our food was very good with good portions.
Applaud them.

We had a horrible experience here! We were there for 1.5 hours, and all we had received in that time was our appetizer and drinks. Horrible service!! The stuffed portobello mushroom appetizer was good, but that is all I can comment on their food. After waiting over 40 mins for our meal to arrive, we finally paid for what we had gotten and left. Our waiter didn't even check in with us to apologize for the delay, ask if we wanted more bread, etc. The manager didn't even offer to comp us on our appetizer. There was another couple that got seated behind us shortly before we left. We saw them the next night, and they commented they also had to wait a very long time for their food, and were getting ready to walk out when their food finally arrived at their table. They had gotten some of their items comped that night, but again, it wasn't offered to us! After that night, we found out that they are running two restaurants out of one kitchen, the other one being a pizza joint. If that is the case, they need to hire more cook staff or stop this practice! It's compromising their business, and it also negates their claim of being a fine dining restaurant.

My wife and I celebrated her birthday here as it is the nicest of the few restaurants open on Beech Mountain off season. We ordered the stuffed portobello mushroom appetizer, and a sirloin steak, baked potatoes and broccoli. The mushroom was excellent, as were the other items we ordered. The bread was warm and soft. In short, the meal was terrific.
Our server did a tremendous job on meeting our needs.
We were the only ones in the restaurant during the meal, so the atmosphere was a little strange. It was raining and foggy, but I'm sure in nicer weather the view would have been wonderful.
All in all, we made a great choice for a birthday dinner.
Was going to eat here but no servers around so we left.
