Always a great place to visit when we are in Beech. We rented our snowboard equipment this year from there. The manager of the rental shop was super helpful and great to talk to. I highly recommend.
This place is an absolute gem❤️ The food was tasty and the staff is out of this world! We are out of town visitors and they treated us like family. Please mark this on your list of to do’s while visiting Beech Mountain for breakfast or lunch then visit their general store upstairs

Located in a charming old shop, Fred's Backside Deli offers a cozy atmosphere with a mix of rustic and eclectic decor. The deli serves a variety of hot food, including southern-style breakfast dishes like biscuits, grits, and gravy, as well as lunch options like grilled cheese sandwiches and Rubens. Prices are reasonable, and the service is great. The standout dishes include the BLT with Avocado and the Great Ole' Smokey sandwich, both best enjoyed on sourdough bread.
Fred's Deli is a Beech Mountain institution, reliably good with a casual atmosphere and friendly service. You order at the counter, and the food is brought to your table. The Sunday morning breakfast buffet is fabulous. After your meal, you can visit the Mercantile upstairs to shop. The deli's glassed-in dining room offers stunning views, and outdoor seating lets you enjoy the surroundings.
Conveniently located near Beech Mountain ski resort, it’s a popular spot for skiers and families. Attached to the deli is a gift shop with a wide range of items at fair prices. As Fred says, "If we don't have it, you don't need it."
