As the owner of Buchanan Construction, I can say that The Village of Cheshire is truly one of the premier communities in Western North Carolina. Our experience building here has been exceptional. Having completed many homes within the village, we’ve had the privilege of seeing firsthand how Sikes Ragan’s vision for a walkable mountain-town community has come to life.
Sikes is a dedicated developer who maintains a high standard for architectural integrity and thoughtful design. His commitment to the principles of New Urbanism makes Cheshire a unique place to build and live, perfectly blending modern luxury with timeless mountain charm.
The collaboration between the development team and our building crew has always been seamless. This partnership ensures that every home we complete contributes to the overall beauty and character of the neighborhood.
If you’re looking for a community that values quality craftsmanship, connection, and a vibrant lifestyle just minutes from downtown Black Mountain, Cheshire is a special place. We look forward to many more successful projects here in the years ahead.

The Cheshire Arms just opened in the village of Cheshire in Black Mountain. It’s a British Pub with a stellar menu accommodating vegan, gluten free, and dairy free options as well as a wide variety of beers, cocktails, and wines. Prepare to be pleased! It’s in the old Black Bear Tavern building at 10 Market Street.

Great spot for walking. Several restaurants are in close proximity to the townhouses in the area.

Beautiful chimney at the community garden. I think they have a new intern working there. He’s very nice. Highly recommend talking to him.

I live in the neighborhood adjoining Chesire Village. There is at least one resident in Chesire Village who has an aggressive dog that roams and has crossed into my neighboring yard and forced me to retreat out of my yard onto my porch. I have spoken to the management which acknowledges this issue and possibly another such case, but nothing is done. If I had small children in my neighborhood or in Chesire Village I would be very concerned for their safety & would not recommend living or renting/vacationing in Chesire Village if I had children or elderly family members.
