The flavor is great. I found it a little overpriced but inflation is everywhere I guess.

Love this place! Actually have been re-looking for it for awhile as a place we stumble upon during COVID and loved the food. So happy to be reunited....and for everything about this place to still be amazing. The food is so good, such a clean, fresh change of pace and the partnership with Lost Province is excellent as well. It's a simple, unassuming and straightforward place, but warm and delicious. Can't wait to go back.

This restaurant was wonderful! Despite there being some mishaps and delayed service (our party was quite large) we were very understanding due to the circumstances, also keeping in mind we had arrived slightly prior to our reservation.

The staff explained that due to fire codes, we could not rearrange the tables. This is completely understandable, although something to keep in mind just in case there are many young kids (our party consisted of many adults).

In addition, the restaurant was overall busy with others seated in the main dining area. I was sure to pay attention to the fact that although it was one server (I forget her name, but she did a wonderful job) taking care of all of us. In addition, the other servers (also wonderful hard working ladies) were helping when they could. In addition, someone in our party has Celiac and they accompanied her dietary restrictions wonderfully.

Overall I would highly recommend this restaurant for weekday dinners, small gatherings, or family get-togethers alike. Just keep in mind that servers and those running restaurants are human, and you will love your food and time at Coyote Kitchen.

Thank you to the staff, our family will be back!

Coyote Kitchen: Where Time Slows, Families Separate, and Service Is Apparently Optional

Saturday should have been easy. We had gone tubing and, anticipating a hungry post-adventure crowd, made a reservation the day before for a 20-person lunch. The staff assured us—warmly and confidently—that this would not be a problem.

That confidence evaporated on arrival.

The restaurant was nearly empty: two occupied indoor tables and one outdoor couple enjoying their meal. Plenty of space. Plenty of staff. Plenty of time, apparently—just not for us.

We were ushered into a secondary room “for large parties,” then informed that we could not push tables together and would instead be broken into smaller groups, preventing families from sitting together. This was, of course, the opposite of what we were told when making the reservation. But we were hungry, tired, and optimistic. We adapted.

Adaptation became the theme.

Each table received a single menu, which we passed around like a rare manuscript. Perhaps this was intentional—some minimalist, fusion-inspired lesson in communal restraint.

Then the waiting began.

For nearly 15 minutes, we were entirely ignored. During this time, the original two indoor tables and the lone outdoor couple—who had already been seated before us—received their entrees. The restaurant remained otherwise empty.

The staff were polite in the way people are polite when they are very clearly not helping you. Attentive? No. Hostile? Not overtly. Just quietly absent, which somehow felt worse.

Assuming they might be short-staffed (a generosity they did not earn but we offered anyway), we stayed.

Twenty minutes later, appetizers arrived. The staff did not linger to take our lunch orders. Another ten minutes passed before that happened. Fifteen minutes after that, two additional couples—who had arrived well after us—were served their meals in this still mostly empty restaurant (13 empty tables, I counted).

More time passed.

Over an hour into the experience, the two couples finished eating, stood up, and prepared to leave. That is when our lunches finally arrived.

At that point, I asked for the check so we could leave as soon as possible. This request was met with what appeared to be standard operating procedure: complete invisibility. After another 15 minutes, I stood up, tracked down our server, and asked—directly—for the bill.

She brought it. I informed her the rest of our group would also like their bills. She nodded, said “okay,” and walked away toward the kitchen, never to return.

I paid at the hostess stand and left.

The entire experience suggested that customer service at Coyote Kitchen is conditional—acceptable for parties of four or fewer, and largely optional beyond that. Whatever promise the food may hold is overshadowed by the unmistakable feeling that your time does not matter here.

The cuisine might have been delightful. Unfortunately, by the time it arrived, frustration and irritation were the dominant flavors.

I will not be returning, and based on this experience, I cannot recommend that anyone else does either—especially if you plan to dine with more than a handful of people or value being acknowledged while seated in a restaurant.

Coyote Kitchen goes above and beyond for the gluten free experience. They are truly a gem when it comes to compassion about multiple food allergies. For the first time in 15 years, I had a fried chicken sandwich. What a treat. 🙂

Either I didn't order the right thing or it was a bad night. The jerk chicken was very dried out and the plantain chips were very hard. The server was fine and very pleasant.
