I am quite sure that my entire meal was frozen heated up food. The staff was lovely, did a great job. Not their fault at all.

With high hopes for this new restaurant in Boone, I was unfortunately let down. I had concerns about nuts being in my meal and the staff was unable to confirm any ingredients and any compensation was not offered after concern about the allergens. I would recommend only for a drink, but skip for a meal! There were a variety of issues in my party including unseasoned food, undercooked steak, and lack of concern and accountability for mistakes during the meal.

This was the worst restaurant experience my friends and I have ever had in Boone. Although the atmosphere and aesthetic were pleasing and upscale, the quality of the food was severely lacking. If you need a place for a drink and dessert, this would be all I could recommend here.
1. The staff was unsure of the ingredients in their own food. One of our friends has a nut allergy and while eating the chocolate chip cookie skillet, noticed there were oats in it, which were not listed on the menu, leaving her wondering if there were any other ingredients not listed, such as nuts. The staff could not confirm or deny the presence of nuts. Staff did not offer compensation or an alternative dish that our friend could safely consume. Additionally, the peach sorbet did not have rum listed as an ingredient, and luckily our friend who is obviously pregnant was told that. However, it was not listed as an ingredient and this could be a problem if a person was not noticeably pregnant or if sober and ordered it.
2. We ordered a steak medium, it came out rare. We asked if they could cook it a little more, which took an additional thirty minutes while the rest of our party finished their meals. Once the steak finally came back, it was still not cooked correctly and tasted spoiled or as though they seasoned it with chemicals.
3. The deposit that you complete to hold the reservation (which is fine, usually) went to a random party member’s check rather than the waitress asking for the original card holder so that money could go toward their meal. The waitress also did not offer to fix that mistake.
4. The food overall was not seasoned well.
5. It should be noted that the drinks (mocktails) were good and the desserts were fine.
No one above our waitress came to speak to us though there were concerns throughout our dining experience.
Would not recommend and will not return.

Super cute restaurant but the food & timing was underwhelming. We ordered a number of menu items and everything was mediocre. The caesar salad came out 10 minutes after the rest of the entrees even though it was the only thing that didn’t require cooking. Steak came out cold and we asked to have it reheated and it was still cold unfortunately. Server was really friendly and clearly trying to keep up but otherwise was not impressed.

The bartender is a chemist. He has a degree in mixology from from Harvard. We had pre dinner drinks and it ruined our meal at a fine dining establishment because the drinks and wine DID NOT live up.

Daniel and the Dog is a great place to grab a drink. The bartender John was wonderful, very professional and interacted with all the guest at the bar. Great selections of drinks. We haven’t eaten a meal here yet but what we saw come out of the kitchen looked good. We did grab a warm cookie skillet😋
If you haven’t been yet, you need to go! We will be back next time we are in town.

What a unique new find in Boone! A cozy pub vibe with a decor to match!! The cocktail is rare crated quality cocktail w8th layers of flavor. The Waygu sliders were the best I've ever tasted. A warm friendly local feel!

We stopped by for a nightcap and dessert after a date night. The space is on the smaller side, and tables close together, which gives it a very intimate and cozy feel. Note, however, that if you’re looking for private secluded spaces, this may not be the spot.
We were able to be seated immediately upon arrival, and our server was promptly by the table to go over the menu with us. We each ordered a cocktail and the skillet chocolate chip cookie. The skillet chocolate chip cookie arrived a bit before both of our drinks, which was a bit odd considering we had waited probably 15 minutes without drinks.
As far as the cocktails, we ordered the Cynar Old Fashioned and the Buffalo Heard. The old fashioned was good, though I didn’t notice the flavor of the Cynar at all. It was very dry, which I like, but may not be for you if you like a sweeter old fashioned. The Buffalo Heard was light and refreshing, with a nice bit of the bourbon shining through. Overall, the cocktails were quite good.
It’s a unique spot, and has a lot of potential. It appears they are still ironing out a few kitchen/bar/service kinks, but I think these are all sm

Daniel and the Dog is one of those places you walk into once and know you’ll be back. Their twist on the espresso martini, the Brown Mountain Lights, is my new standard — bold, smooth, and just the right jolt to keep the night going. The loaded pomme frites? Ridiculously good. Perfectly crisp and piled high with toppings you didn’t know you needed but now can’t live without.
If you sit at the bar, hope John’s working. He makes a drink better than anyone around and has the kind of personality that makes you want to hang out all night.
This spot has officially earned its place on my favorites list. You won’t regret it.
