Root Down Depot is Burnsville’s best restaurant. The vision and flavor profile is so crystal clear that a blind tasting of the food could be identified in seconds. The menu generally consists of 5 or so items, allowing one chef to continuously perfect each item. The breakfast burrito and burger always satisfy, and the specials are always worth trying, like the new breakfast fries. The best burger in the area, nobody compares, and everything served is 5 stars. Try the french fries cooked in beef tallow and sprinkled with garlic and kale chips. It is a food truck style eatery with a wonderful menu of local food. The burger and fries are fantastic, and the craft soda is delicious. The restaurant is run by a family, with kids helping take orders. The seating area is adorable and peaceful. The produce is mostly homegrown, buns are made locally, and local beef and sodas are used, including sassafras soda. The location is great, and the gift shop has local wonders. Go to the depot on Fridays and get the fries.
