Confederate flag license plates in the parking lot says it all. God forbid you've got some melanin in your group when you walk in - the hostile states and zero welcome. We walked right out because no food is worth that vibe.

Best crab cakes ever, hot and very tasty. Shrimp, delicious. Great coleslaw, hush puppies and decent fries. I thoughtthe scallops may be from another type fish. Grain was wrong, but very tasty. Overall a good stop. Reasonable pricing. It's a bar, so it is noisy. However the service was good.

We've driven past many times intimidated by the crowded parking lot at a small place. Now we know why it's often crowded. Went for early beer and dinner tonight and loved Pops! So friendly and a nice casual vibe. Food was great at a good price. Hubby said his cheese steak was the best he's had on Hatteras Island to date and I enjoyed the rockfish sandwich. The shrimp wontons were surprisingly delicious -- especially that dipping sauce. We will be back for sure.

Very good food. Felt like our hometown bar. Prices were great. If ever in Buxton it is a must go to place to eat.

One of the best men I’ve ever met was denied service here due to his service dog. His service dog is extremely behaved and composes itself better than most adults. Below is the description of the the event from my friend: “ We were refused service and made to leave because of Xander, my service dog. He was on a short lead and wearing a designated service dog vest that was clearly marked. I pointed out to the manager (young lady) that I was a disabled veteran. I have never been refused service and was beside myself. I didn’t feel proud of serving right then for sure. I spent 17 1/2 years in service of my country and nearly 4 years deployed to Iraq or Afghanistan. Blown up in Mosul in 2004 and now I can’t eat lunch with my family. I pointed out that it was a violation of the Americans with Disability Act and the manager didn’t care. Please help me spread the word and keep other veterans or disabled persons from being alienated, discriminated and shamed by POP’s Raw Bar in Buxton, North Carolina.” Also below is a picture of the veteran this restaurant disrespected. I hope everyone, especially the fellow veterans, continue driving past this restaurant when they’re looking for a place to eat.

This was y brother’s experience, but completely unacceptable!!

I don’t usually complain but I just want all my friends and veterans to help me spread the word. I’m currently at the Outer Banks of North Carolina with my son and Uncle. We went to Pop’s Raw Bar in Buxton, NC for lunch. We were refused service and made to leave because of Xander, my service dog. I know most of you know Xander and love him like I do. He was on a short lead and wearing a designated service dog vest that was clearly marked. I pointed out to the manager (young lady) that I was a disabled veteran and it was a violation of Dare County law for a dog to be in a restaurant. *We are at Angelo’s Pizzeria in Buxton and we’re allowed in to eat.
