The Original FAMOUS Bagel Dock Cafe of Calabash

We have been loyal Bagel Dock customers for years. This week I shipped bagels to my client for his Holiday gift. He is originally from Long Island and is picky about his bagels but when they arrived his wife and daughter were already claiming their bagels. I know they will love it as much as we do.

Very expensive Bagel breakfast for 4 of us $70.00

Good food at a fair price, but the last two times we were there they got our order wrong. And there was nothing complicated about it. For example, 2 weeks ago my wife and I ordered a small cheese steak(her) and a small Godfather Italian sub. They gave us two cheesesteaks. How is that possible? Two sandwiches, two people. We won’t be in any hurry to go back.
Oh, and if the owner stops by your table don’t ask him about their bagels…he’ll stand there for 15 minutes telling you about the elaborate water purification system they put in and how important it is..while you’re trying to eat.

As an NJ native, these bagels are the best I've had since moving here. Prices are up there - but you're paying for quality that you cannot find elsewhere. Staff is always welcoming, the turnover is fast, and the place is always packed because everyone loves it. Owner is super friendly as well!

The bagels are fantastic, especially the Nova Lox. This is definitely my favorite bagel place.
They have other options besides bagels and bakery that makes delicious treats.

This place is the best bagels best pastries around filtered water. I don’t know what these other reviews are about but they’re all fake if they’re one stars. Especially the one below me that’s crazy you can see it’s a fake account

Went the other day to pick up a bagel and found a fly in the middle of the bread, it looks like it was cooked into it when the bagel was made…. Don’t recommend to my worst enemy

Went there specifically for their $5 Friday special ham egg and cheese. My wife ordered 2 of them online and I showed up to pick up and was charged $16+ I left a dollar tip thinking the wife had ordered 3. The girl took the receipt off the bag after handing it to me which I thought was weird. Got home and realized I was ripped off, not a good feeling. My mother told me they did the same thing to her a couple weeks ago. Check your order if you think you’re getting a special!

Poor Service and Overpriced Food — Beware!

I paid nearly $18 for a cheesesteak, and the pickles, which were supposed to be a side that I paid for, were never included with my order. The sandwich was described as being served on “Italian bread,” but what I received was far from what any New Yorker would call Italian bread.

When I called to address the issue, the owner was rude, dismissive, and said she didn’t have time to talk. She even hung up on me and refused to correct the mistake or offer any kind of solution.

The “Italian Hero” was about an inch wide and as flat as a pancake. The food quality was poor and did not resemble the pictures on the menu. The prices are extremely high for what you get, and the overall experience was disappointing. FYI before buying any sandwiches or heros ask to see what you will be getting before you waste your time and money.

The owner told me to get over myself over pickles! It was more than not giving me pickles, 64.00 dollars later 1 small 4 inch narrow roast beef with nothing at on it, a cheesesteak that was supposedly 8 inches and about 1 inch wide, and 2 bagels with 2 eggs and a slice of cheese on each. She needs to get over herself.

In summary, this place is overpriced, unprofessional, and lacks basic customer service. I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone. Spend your money elsewhere—you’ll get better food and better treatment.

I’m kind of astounded. We weren’t given a coffee cup when we ordered so we asked for one and a man followed us outside saying the cashier wanted our names to check the order because she didn’t think we paid for it.
So we were accused of stealing a black coffee. Followed to our car.
I’m absolutely blown away.

Edit- we most definitely were followed to the parking lot, asked for our name so they could check if we paid. We’d have gladly paid- we had no clue the cashier didn’t hear my husband order the coffee. It was the fact we were chased down about a drip coffee we had no clue wasn’t added to the bill. It was just bad customer service- as the owner said, the cashier didn’t hear us ask and we had no idea.

This is one of the most amazing treasures in Calabash. I lucked into them on a recent trip and I wish I had more room to try several more things. There is so much variety that even the pickiest of eaters will find something that wows them. I can’t wait to go back.

If you like napkins, don’t go here. But let me start with the bagels. They’re chewy dense bagels. If you want a bagel that’s crispy outside, airy inside, don’t go here. The cream cheese is soupy. Why? It’s supposedly made in-house but someone needs a new recipe. Ok, so it’s a one napkin per person shop. You get soupy bagels and you need to limit your mess. I asked if there were napkins somewhere and I was sternly told they were behind the counter and I would get it with my food. Since I had already gotten my food, I would have had to either cut the line so that I can go and ask the workers if I could have more napkins or wait online until someone was available to get them for me. This is incredibly annoying and I watched everybody get delivered their meal and then one napkin. No, thank you.
