Love their bagels especially love their blueberry muffins. Make sure you check your orders though if you get any to go. Big mix up no blueberries hardly in our bagels so wouldn't recommend those. Eggs were dry. Bacon and cream cheese on a bagel wasn't all that thought their would be regular slicesof Bacon on the bagel not bits in cream cheese couldn't even taste Bacon.

Have to say on some level I was impressed but overall the experience just isn't worth the time, drive and money, if you aren't staying in Calabash. We had a so-so time our first trip and decided to try again. Everybody has an off day. Second trip was worse. Cashiers do not communicate well with the customers, especially new ones. First trip the product was wonderful. Boil and bake is the only way to do authentic bagels. But, I was a District Manager for a national bagel chain and I believe quality should extend to customer service as well. While we sat there we heard the cashier shout, "We are almost out of bagels. We only have what you see," to the customers in line. Six people walked out while the manager was sitting in a corner chatting up regulars or friends? The second trip, the cashier was more polite but it bothered me when the manager opened up a second register and took the gentleman behind us? I could tell from their conversation it was someone she knew. This time the bagels were obviously over proofed. The outside was soft and not shiny. The bread inside was soft and bread like. There were large air pockets that meant the yeast in the bagels were blown before they were baked. Because of that, they can't be boiled properly or they fall apart. Any good baker would have thrown that dough out. Its obvious the owner is very cost conscious and would prefer to sell second rate product instead throwing it out. I understand that its a small business and labor and supply costs are up, but that's no excuse for bad management. Besides $17 for 6 bagels? Are you kidding me?Answer to the Owner's response: 1.) I don't care if your owners are "9/11 survivors." That doesn't excuse bad customer service or bad product. Besides my complaint wasn't about taste. My complaint was about how your baker screwed up and then you selling second rate product. 2.) I paid with a credit card. You have no idea how I paid. You never asked or talked to me. You just grabbed your good friend and brought him up to the front of the line past me and the 3 people in front of me. 3.) The people that left on my first trip? You never spoke to them. You made no effort to try. My wife and I spoke to them in the parking lot. They noticed our out of state tags and started a conversation. They just wanted a quick cream cheese bagel and a coffee. 4.) I don't care how much experience you pretend to have. It doesn't excuse bad product and poor service. 6.) I've never paid $18 for a hamburger at McDonalds. What world are you living in? 7.) We bought 6 bagels. You charged us $10.30 or basically $1.72 per naked bagel. We got 2 everything, 2 bacon cheddar, 2 asiago. You upcharged us an additional $2 plus for the two bacon cheddars and $3 plus for the two asiagos. With tax it came out to over $17. You basically doubled the price of the asiago just because of the cheese? New York attitude may fly in New York but not in Carolina.

I was really looking forward to their bagels. I had heard good things. While I admit the bagel had good taste (not great), it was closer to a dinner roll with everything seasoning rather than a New York bagel. It was soft and had seasoning on only one side. I suggest one keeps searching for a good bagel in the Myrtle Beach/Calabash area.

I’m so sad that the original owners sold this place it used to be so great and it was always a treat to get bagels from here when I am in town visiting family. I hate to say it but the taste and quality of the bagels is no longer amazing as they used to be, they no longer have the sundried tomato cream cheese that was probably one of their most popular and the prices are quite high now. I just don’t see myself visiting the bagel dock again after this last visit over the weekend. I miss Carmine and his wife who ran it before! Also after reading their response to another review they sound very unprofessional and not a place I would want to support.
