First time in here! Decided to grab some breakfast on my way to the farmer's market this morning. When I say this place is no frills, I mean it. That's not a dig, btw, the restaurant is very clean. Didn't check out the bathrooms, but if there anything like the dining room, you'll be fine.
I got their breakfast plate and a cup of coffee. All for under $10!! Great deal! I got 2 eggs, scrambled, grits sausage, and big ole buttery biscuit. The lady at the counter was friendly and helpful. The coffee was super hot and fresh, perfect way to start my Saturday. Didn't have to wait more than 5 minutes for my meal. Food was delicious. It did come on a styrofoam plate, which is a little off putting, but I'll look past it.
The only critique/warning I'd give to you would be customers is this, some of the crowd there was a bit interesting, might be why they weren't busy at 830am on a Saturday morning...just leave it at that...
Not sure if I'll be back or not but it fulfilled my needs for a quick, hot breakfast!

Country Junction is the perfect spot for anyone used to eating small town breakfast. Don’t go in expecting anything fancy, but it is so delicious for the price. The people working there are so sweet and it feels like a little community. Please support this business!!! ❤️

I see the phrase "no frills" used a lot in describing this place, and I have to agree. This is place is a no frills kinda place, and that kinda lends to its appeal. You order your protein and drink, pay for it, then sit down. It comes out to you on a styrafoam tray and you take it to their side bar and top up on what you want.
Outside of your standard Yelp,FB, and Google reviews, Country Junction doesn't seem to have a huge social media presence. In a world where I'm seeing IG stories of newer hip, restaurants with colorful drinks and smoke and mirrors advertising, Country Junction by contrast is more akin to that kinda shack restaurant you find while wandering the back roads between Lexington and K-Vegas.
As for the food...when I say "no frills" I really mean no frills. They don't try to be fancy and that reflects in the food. I ordered the country steak and gravy and to be honest it was very mid.
The breading and texture of the patty definitely gave off preprocessed and frozen. The gravy was and okay texture but didn't really add any complexity to the meal. Country fried steak is one of my favorite country dishes and I live for going to little home cooking spots like these to see how they make theirs, so I've been exposed to quite a few variances of this dish. Flavor wise, it was mostly just salty...there wasn't really a whole lot going on outside of that. Luckily they had some condiments near by that I made use of to "kick it up a notch".
For my sides and I had rice and turnip greens mainly. Those were pretty standard, didn't really stand out, but not complaining either.
Final Thoughts: I went into this place blind and left feeling full and satisfied. I think that's why I'm writing this, because I think it's important to go in with expectations somewhat tempered and not expecting the best food in the world. To put things in perspective, I think I paid ~$12 for my meal. That might sound like paying too much for something mid-tasting, but honestly when you look at McDonald's or Wendy's burger combos, they're pretty comparable in price for similar quality. You do get to have multiple trips to the side bar which imo makes Country Junction the better value.
The food wasn't great but it was decent and filling and at an affordable price point, and I think that's the niche market that CJ fills. In an increasingly populated and food trendy area, it's a place where blue collared folks can go and get a satisfying meal for <$20.

I gave a good rating because I got excited that there is another location. I frequently visited your location in Durham, NC. Now they are closed and I really miss the atmosphere and the people that worked there. I hope you guys are open in Carrboro, NC. Hopefully, you will see me soon.
The food here is legit. Waiting in line for 15 minutes behind 2 people is over the top. I don't recommend going here unless you are retired and have no time constraints.

Really nothing to see here. Priced comparably to other restaurants but a lack of competition is promoting short cutting in every aspect of this location. Prepare to be underwhelmed.
