Equally outstanding was the oxtail ; truly to die for, with a slow-cooked depth that bursts with bold, savory Caribbean spices.

The cabbage was a pleasant surprise: perfectly cooked, subtly seasoned, and providing a fresh balance to the richness of the meats. Paired with fluffy, fragrant rice and peas, this meal hit every note; comforting, satisfying, and utterly delicious.

The shopkeep was incredibly friendly, offering genuine hospitality and a smile that made the experience feel even more like home. You can tell she really cares about the food that was made.

“Let me tell you chef ??!!!!! My daughter was there about 2 weeks ago for a college tour. She came home telling us about Vittles at the Park. She is a picky eater and she talked about was the Cajun Catfish. Here we are 2 wks latter, with other family members and we all were thoroughly pleased with those at the front counter to everything we ate. I had the flounder combo with 2 sides (collards and candied yams). I opened up my dinner and I know I wasn’t going to finish it all because there were 3 nice size pieces of fish. I started eating before you know it all was gone. That’s how good the food was. When we’re back in town we will definitely be back & we have more family members accompanying us as well.“

“Golden Krust in my opinion is wayyyyy better than Lee’s kitchen. In regards to Caribbean flavor and taste Golden Krust never disappoints. The serve curry chicken, jerk chicken oxtail patties etc . My go to for me and my mom is the curry shrimp with a preference to do mild but you can make hotter if you want and the curry snapper. These meals come with side options I love their spinach rice and cabbage with plantain. They are available on door dash which is convenient as well and the taste is still delicious! Lastly they do have great drink options I love the bottles pineapple ginger or the house made pineapple ginger“

“Decided to give this spot a try after hearing about it from co-workers. Ordered the small fried chicken plate.

The chicken was absolutely phenomenal. Seasoned, Crispy and JUICY to pretty much perfection. Even the chicken BREAST was juicy which majority of places cant do. The rice and plantains were also very good.

I will definitively be coming again for more.“

“If u can wait at a sit down restaurant; why not have the patience to wait for great food. Ordered the jerk wings, jerk chicken dinner, jerk shrimp with two sides and the Philly egg rolls. I’m reading theses comments and see folk just mad u had to wait. Staff was working churning out orders and I notice no one had an attitude except folk who want something quick fast in a hurry. It had a wait but I can tell you most customers were ordering at least 3 plates. Everyone was enjoying the vibe and just relax. I rather wait on my food and make sure it right. I drove by at 4:47pm on Saturday and the line was out to the boa boa lunch buffet and when I got back at 6 pm there was a line to boa boa. I will be back and hope the folk who in a hurry realize they would wait an 30 min to hour to be seated and 45 min for the food to be prepared give this establishment some grace. The reason I’m passionate about this is when I got home, I was throughly impressed with my food and ate off my families plate. I glad my wife wanted to go. I would gladly stand in line again so I can get another chance to eat.“

“Me and my cousin was in Durham from Goldsboro and decided to try them out was craving Jamaican food. Was skeptical at first but the food was really good especially the cabbage NEVER change your recipe on them. I had jerk chicken not spicy at all though good but where is the spice? Jerk chicken should have some kick to it! Plantains were great oxtails were alright just ran out so I didn’t get much and I personally love thicker ox tails but I understand most places only serve the small flat ones. My cousin said the salmon was good but dry but flavored well and the pork chop was also dry and ok. I liked the macaroni and cheese it was pretty good. Overall I would eat here again it was worth it to me to dine again!“
