Lenoir Dining Hall Cafeteria • $$
36 Lenoir Dr, Chapel Hill

“Honestly when Jamba Juice was still here it was a true icon. The upstairs had a great panini press that I used frequently and my friend and I used to get the Chinese food at the bottom. I would give her my broccoli and she would give me some extra chicken. Simpler times“

“Infinite food paid for by the summer camp I work at. Burgers, fries, pizza, brownies, often pasta and sometimes other dishes for lunch/dinner. Eggs, bacon, sausage, and potato cubes for breakfast. Has Pepsi products for drinks. Great for people like me who prefer quantity over quality.“

Overlook Café Cafeteria • $

“I work across the street from the UNC Hospital complex so Overlook Cafe is one of my nearby go-to places for lunch. Their soups are great all around and for certain varieties they'll ask you if you want croutons included. My favorites are the New England Clam Chowder and the Cream of Potato (bacon bit and onion toppings available for this one) -- both are excellent. The strombolis are also delicious and come with a side of marinara. The only panini I've ever had is the tuna salad but based on how good that is that I'm eager to try the others. Prices are reasonable, too. The only thing to be aware of is that the place can get very busy between about noon and 1:00 PM, so your wait time might be a little lengthy.“

The Fox Center Café Cafeteria •
100 Fuqua Drive, Durham

“I have eaten here approximately 400 times. I know whereof I speak. Airy; natural light; fantastic forest view; full of brainy, nice blue devils; a variety of options from burgers to salad bar to comfort food to noodle dishes. Lines can be a little long at peak hours and the food can sometimes be a little pricey. But those complaints are small potatoes. I will likely eat here at least another 400 times.“

Pitchforks (Cafe Edens) Cafeteria •
Durham

“Decent 24 hour food option buried within residential housing on Duke's campus. It has made some improvements upon Pitchforks, namely brighter decor and a more varied menu, but ultimately I still come for the same types of food as before. Breakfast is served from 11 PM to 4 PM (yes all night) and dinner from 4 PM to 11, though some foods remain on the menu constantly, as does the display case of Guglhupf cakes. Alcohol is available as well. Note that prices are rather high, as food points suffer from inflation. My go to's: Mexican chopped salad, salmon dashi, eggs your way (2 eggs, salad and toast), oatmeal, and pancakes. My friend was obsessed with the Reuben for a while, but aside from these items I'm not a huge fan of the other things on the menu.“
