we come here pretty often. the food is pretty cheap and it isn't bad so it's worth it.

I think the best thing is their curry. sushi is ok but not great. the staff is very warm and friendly every time without fail but the actual food does take some time to come out. people may complain about the atmosphere but we love it - it is very comfortable and laid back. I see some people complaining about the conveyer belt not being on but i think they took that out during covid and tbh its better that it isn't there

I would still recommend this place to anyone who isn't a sushi or sashimi snob.

not very accessible if you're in a wheelchair but it isn't the worst in chapel hill. there is a ramp to get in and there is a parking lot across the street that does have accessible spaces close to the restaurant. not a lot of space to maneuver though and you do have to cross the street to get to parking (not their fault at all, just sharing for anyone who is wondering)

Ordered the UNC roll, and it came out looking lovely. My first bite however, and I realized that not only did the tuna taste fishy, but the smell was also off. Fresh sushi should not smell or taste, fishy. When the chef was informed of the reason the roll was returned, I could hear him become defensive and stating “it’s fish” rather than taking what was bad fish off the bar. Would not recommend for the lack quality and frankly a lack of standards to what’s being served. Sushi is not something to play with when it comes to how fresh it is.

They should add more vegetarian choices. Fish is not a vegetarian ingredient, of course, but the management doesn't seem to understand that. Several of the menu items are marked with a vegetarian icon but they contain bonito flakes or fish broth, so they're obviously not. The vegetarian miso ramen is doing all of the work. It's good but it's not good enough to order it at every visit.

Love this place, the staff is accommodating and amazing. Hiro remembers my order every time. If this place closes I will riot. Great price, great sushi. Eat here.

The food here is cheap, but so is the flavor. California roll had zero flavor. Masago had zero flavor. Eel was good.

The whole atmosphere felt trashy. Plates are taped to the wall. The conveyor belt doesn't work, which is ridiculous for a shop advertised as a conveyor belt sushi bar. The cupboards are falling apart.

Expect sushi to take forever, and simple modifications like adding massage to a roll couldn't be done.

Great sushi. This is not an elegant sushi restaurant. Think of it as quickly made sushi with great flavor and variety with great service. Not to mention the affordability.

Great sushi. The chef and staff are always attentive. There is something on the menu for any level of sushi lover. I definitely recommend it.

A sushi and noodle shop that's been a downtown Chapel Hill staple for over 20 years, weathering the pandemic and maintaining student and family-friendly menu options all the way. Many of the staff are familiar faces to locals visiting year after year, making fresh and tasty eats for new and returning customers.

Sushi, noodles, bowls, salads, and dessert options are available with beer, wine, and sake to pair. Their menu also has options marked for gluten-free and vegetarian diners.

It is a great place to try your first bite of sushi if you've yet to do so, and a nice stop for quick menu or conveyor belt orders if you're spending time downtown. I have enjoyed many of their offerings; today's lunch special was lovely.

Amazing food for the price. Think 50% cheaper than the average sushi place, but at least 80-90% the portion size and quality of ingredients, so overall you come out far, far ahead. Staff was very attentive, and overall atmosphere was cozy and welcoming. $7 for a beef rice bowl is probably the best $7 you could possibly spend in the area (not a huge amount of beef, but very yummy and good portion size overall with rice and sauce).

Kid-friendliness: Has high chairs and booster seats. My kid loved the udon noodles, the tempura, and veggie rolls.

Kurama, Absolutely recommend!!!Awesome place to have lunch and dinner without worrying about spending much money. The sushi and noodle soup are ALWAYS simple but fresh and tasty just as I expected, which is the most satisfying for me as a chef. Plus, the sushi chef was one of the most committed ones I’ve ever seen! The service is friendly and polite and the atmosphere is comfortable. All the reasons let myself be craving for and enjoy going back to this place again and again.Always has been and will be the most favorite in Chapel Hill. I am so sad that I can’t go here often anymore because of moving out of Chapel Hill.
