Top of the Hill! I cannot stress enough how much I enjoyed myself here!! Our server was Cesare and he was so friendly and kind and very accommodating with great recommendations. The food was absolutely amazing. The “thumbs and toes” was probably the best bbq chicken chunks I’ve ever had. And luckily we came in when their special of the day was true bbq brisket sandwich topped with cole slaw. It was so good that I cannot believe it’s not a menu staple. My God. We even ordered an extra side of brisket just because it was so tender and juicy. It sucks that I don’t live in North Carolina, otherwise I would 100% be in here every weekend for the great food, friendly staff, and chill vibes with a great view.

I really enjoyed the salmon bowl! Everyone enjoyed their food and drinks. It's possible they have a kids menu but I didn't see it on their website or when I scanned the code at the restaurant. There were a couple kids there when we visited. The menu we viewed was definitely for the mature palate. We are here on a Saturday around 1pm. It was busy but not overcrowded. I would eat here again next time I'm in CH!

This was our first visit to TOPO and it did not disappoint! Delicious food, great staff and beautiful view. The drinks were perfect and I cannot rave enough about the risotto with fried salmon and the rolls!!! Mouth watering, we will definitely be back for more.I will also add that the restrooms were very clean and spacious. The restaurant overall is nice and has options to dine inside or out.

Scenery and restaurant were cool. Our beer was good. Unfortunately the chicken sandwich was extremely dry and very thin; others have made this comment previously too. The burger was not cooked properly. Our server started out very attentive. We ordered everything immediately just because we had our baby with us and who knows how long she would make it. Overall we were there for 70 minutes and most of it was waiting. Our serve didn’t come to our table for 30 minutes or more when we were nearly done, while we had an upset baby, and we were ready to go. Didn’t address food concerns at all even though more than 75% if our food was still left on the table. Disappointing overall.

This is a very nice restaurant. I was visiting my daughter who is a student at Chapel Hill. The restaurant is on the third floor and has both indoor and outdoor dining. We chose to dine outdoors and had a nice view of Franklin Street. The restaurant also has a brew pub. I only drink beer after mowing the lawn and since I did not have my lawn mower with me I did not patrtake. We had lizard chips which are fried pickles and sweet potato fries with pepper jelly as appetizers. I don't really care for fried pickles but these were very good. My daughter loved them. The sweet potato fries were waffle fries which I'm not terribly fond of. That being said the pepper jelly cream cheese dip that came with them was very good and despite not being fond of waffle fries i managed to suffer through the entire batch. For the main course my daughter had the Teriyaki cauliflower Bowl which she really enjoyed. I had the wild mushroom grit cakes. They were very tasty. I ordered shrimp with them. They were very flavorful and came with a nice cheese sauce. It was not quite what I had envisioned. From the description I thought the mushrooms would be within the cakes themselves but the mushrooms were in the sauce. Still it was very tasty. Overall an excellent experience. The server was attentive and friendly. I will definitely be coming back for seconds.

Service was slow, waiters did not look like they had any training except “ take this to that table” food was average and they do not really cater for anyone who needs to be gluten free. Disappointing.

Love it here - food is always great and the blueberry wheat on draft is my favorite ?

I had a blast last night at Top of the Hill off Franklin! Or maybe it was my date? ? To start the night off, we order two fabulous Patron shots (with salt on the rim, of course). We then proceeded to order coke n’ rum (well-prepared) in addition to a fancy alcoholic beverage. One of the bartenders designed it himself. I don’t recall the name- it contained coffee, chocolate, whipped cream in addition to other constituents (sorry, no cherry on top). It was fantastic! ? For entrées, I selected the French Quarter Jambalaya. Pretty good! I was able to have a sample of my date’s dish, the Topo Whiskey & Coke Braised Beef. That one was very good! Overall, great experience, pleasant environment and friendly people! ?

Only had a short time before we had to head to a hoops game, so pretzels and beer at the bar were the snack of choice, but if the rest of the food was as good as those items, it’s a place I need to go back to for a proper sit down. Great atmosphere too.

Atmosphere is great. Homemade brews are tasty (I enjoyed the blueberry wheat). Hush puppies and soft pretzels were each good apps. The bulgogi salmon was delicious.

An institution of the UNC community, Top Of The Hill is well worth the visit anytime I'm in Chapel Hill. Beautiful outdoor space with nice views of the campus & town and a very solid menu. I did the Jambalaya for today's lunch and it was fantastic! My server Julia was excellent as well; I might just stop in again tomorrow before I head on my way!

The scenery and vibe of the restaurant is great!!. The food is average. We personally weren't over the moon like, omg this is the best chicken or appitizer or dessert. It really was average. Not horrible, not great. We were seated by the hostess and after being seated for a good while, waiting patiently, like 12 to 15 minutes. Then a waitress approached us explaining how the mangers wife was a couple tables over and she had to make sure she talked to her and they got carried away in conversation.

This place is outstanding on many levels. The reception was excellent as well as the overall service. The atmosphere is really nice and the food is varied and good. I got a recommendation from the waiter for the main course and it was outstanding. Beers are excellent and there are many options. The only thing I deeply regret is to have waited more than one year to try this place. I'll come back.
