To start with the good: the waitress was great and doing her best with way too many tables. Everything else was substandard. We were seated without menus, so sat for some time without service until one of us went back to the hostess for the menus. We didn’t have place settings for all of us and had to ask. Once we ordered, our food took a very long time but during our wait we had two sets of the wrong people’s food come to our table. When the food finally came the waitress flagged that one of our party’s order was wrong, but the server seemed confused with that and we didn’t want to wait more so accepted the food. At that point it had been fully an hour since we’d been seated. Of course the fish was more undercooked than ordered. The chicken sandwich was approximately a 1:1 chicken to pickle ratio. I’d told my UNC student that she should go to Top of The Hill at least once, and after that meal it will be only once.

The food here is not very good, so I suggest ordering the simplest possible dishes. The entrees aren’t worth it. The beer, drinks, and view are why people come, so I feel they do not invest in the food itself.

The pretzel was delicious, and the beer flight was really good.

A restaurant specializing in American cuisine

This restaurant is located in Chefhill and serves Southern American cuisine.
It appears to be a place that also produces alcohol, like a brewery.
Sweet potato fries ordered as a starter are $11.99.
At the end, it just says “I’m a sweet potato.”
The sauce it comes with is quite sweet, so it goes well with it.
If it weren't for this sauce, I would think it was fries~
It's pretty good when eaten with the sauce.
And the beef I ordered as the main course was
It is a taste and texture that I have experienced for the first time in my life.
The visual is too black so it feels unappealing,
It's an attractive menu with a feel of the inside.
The price is $24.99, so it is not a big burden.
With the sight and taste I have seen for the first time in my life.
Served with mashed potatoes and roasted vegetables
The overall balance also seems to be good.
A sauce made with whiskey and cola tastes like this!

The store is a bit large.
It is located on the 3rd floor of the building.
The overall interior is also good,
There is also a balcony, so the atmosphere is quite nice.
Order and pay at the table
Because there is no separate parking lot in the building.
It is a hassle to have to find parking nearby.

It's fun to taste new food~

Kendall and Alyssa provided excellent service and made it a wonderful night :)

Chapel Hill staple, great seating outside - try to get the high tops near the edge.

Good food for the venue and price.
Enjoyed the jambalaya. The shortribs were tasty but wildly overdone. Ok salmon.

Nicely priced drinks

Great service!

A wonderful lunch experience at Top of the Hill. There was no wait for seating, and their patio offers views of downtown (which today included a light breeze and Carolina-blue skies). The staff did well; they were polite and professional, the drinks and food prepared quickly, and the meal was just the thing.

While it can be rather busy in the evening sometimes, today was pleasantly quiet enough to suit work, reading, or studies alongside food and drink. Looking forward to another visit!

Staff were friendly and accommodating but sorry the food and drinks were just very average. We all ordered cocktails, and it was watery with little alcohol. The portions of starter is very little and tastes like frozen food.

Food was extremely mediocre. Hungry within an hour of leaving the bowl was very underwhelming. Dirty cups on our first round. Porch was nice I’d do drinks only next time

Don’t bother trying to reach out to these guys through their Contact Us webpage function - even if it’s to give them a couple thousand worth of business - cuz they don’t bother to answer. Says a lot. Thanks for the advance notice that I shouldn’t do business with you. Tried twice, crickets.

First time at TOPO. The food was great and our server Angelina was exceptional. Will definitely be back.

The food and drinks were wonderful. The view from the deck overlooking Franklin Street was fun.

Nice location. 3 of our 4 dishes were terrible. Seared tuna was tasteless and very tough. Fried chicken was over cooked and the gravy turned it to mush losing all crispiness. The honey mustard dressing on one dish was so powerful with horseradish it was clearly prepared without sampling the dressing. We were not asked how the food was.

Fries were delicious and burgers and beers are probably really good.

I'm honestly not sure why this place is rated so highly. We got sat at 6, ordered drinks, an appetizer, and food, and didn't get the drinks until 6:50, then never got the appetizer at all. I got the passionfruit collins and it was totally flat, no passionfruit taste, just literally tasted like water with lemon. Thankfully they took it off the bill, as well as the Parmesan dinner rolls that didn't come. The raspberry long island ice tea just tastes like raspberry Nestle tea with some vodka in it.

The main course came and it was literally tossed on our table by another server or buser without a word lol. The southern fried chicken entre was just heavily breaded chicken (ie nothing fried or crispy about it, or if it was fried, they could have fooled me). It was soggy from the gravy and the mashed potatoes were SUPER salty. The southwest chicken pasta was, at the risk of sounding like a total snob, just uninspired haha. Just tasted like a bit of cream sauce with a dash of sundried tomato for the color - definitely not a spicy chipotle, with probably (not exaggerating) ~1 oz of cut up grilled chicken.

Total shame all around. We went in there loving the atmosphere and eating on the balcony outside and excited, then left unsatisfied and disappointed for what we thought was going to be a go to place for us in chapel Hill.
