Great place and very good service. Were out of some sashimi items and not flexible on any menu changes so we had to order 2 items rather than one with an add on.

Came back after many years and found out they are closing Baku and merging with Yama down the street. Love the concept of tapas in Japanese cuisine. My cocktail was very good made with gin and cucumber juice. All the tapas items were fresh and tasty. The Nigiri and Sushi roll were good as well (though at times the seaweed was chewy) The selection of fish was very fresh. Our waitress was great and kept an eye on us and made very good recommendations. Did miss the Baku Buns they use to have!

May is the best waitress I've ever had! Make sure you sit with her and no one else! The experience will not be the same I promise you. All the food was good. Zero complaints. So sad they're closing

We celebrated my son's 23rd birthday at Baku last night and everything was wonderful. The food was outstanding, the ambience was warm and inviting, and the service was attentive without being overbearing. They even gave us the exact table we requested. It made for a really special evening, and we couldn't have asked for a better experience. We'll definitely be back!

The sushi is outstanding. Incredibly fresh, thoughtfully prepared, and full of original roll concepts that actually make sense—not just novelty for novelty’s sake. Every bite feels intentional.
And then there’s the seared duck. Simple, clean, cooked perfectly, with just enough spice to elevate it without overpowering anything. Honestly? It was flawless. One of those dishes you stop talking mid-sentence for.
The ambiance ties it all together. Chill, relaxed, and effortlessly cool. It’s the kind of place where you can settle in, enjoy the experience, and not feel rushed or distracted.

The whole place smells like chlorine, our wait for the food was about an hour (this place was maybe 40% full), took 25 min to get our drinks. Food was average, sushi had too much rice, very little fish. Would not recommend this place.

Absolutely the best birthday experience i've ever had. I came in for my birthday and not only did they automatically know my name for reservation at the door, but they made her everyone knew it was my birthday. I am so happy I decided to come in. Our waiter was the best service we've had in Charlotte yet. He requested something not even on the menu and it was AMAZING. The best, juiciest, most authentic food we've had here yet. We will be regulars!!
