The potential is there. The fried pickles are not good. The ranch is not either. Stick with fries. I got a plain jane chicken sandwich. The bun is paper thin. The chicken is just skin. The grease needs to be changed. Would i choose here again? No.

Today I was so unsatisfied with my order here. Normally box car is good but today was not. I waited 40 min for my food. They lost my order and didn’t remember what I had. Thus making me RE-WAIT longer to get my food. Once I received my food I was biting into bone pieces in my chicken nuggets I ordered. I tried to look past this and just couldn’t take it. I asked for a refund for my meal and wait. And only received partial refund, this really made me jaded towards this place.

The Buffalo is tasty and worth a try, although I personally prefer that the blue cheese be chunky and the chicken to be tossed in more sauce after frying. The house pickles are not pickled enough for my taste. The staff is friendly and the service is great.

My partner and I are visiting family for Thanksgiving. As a part of my one new restaurant a month journey, they suggested optimist hall ! It was a lot of fun walking around and getting all of the free smells ! It also wasn't as busy as I imagined it being. The four of us each got something different: I got the chicken sandwich from Boxcar Betty's. It had pimento cheese, bacon jam, and maple syrup ! I definitely recommend: but be aware, it is super messy. The chicken is breaded and fried perfectly. Honestly one of the best chicken sandwiches I have ever had.

This is hands down one of the best fried chicken sandwiches I’ve had. Tender chicken, crispy breading, homemade pickles. Just a great flavor combo.Got the fried pickles and sweet potato fries as well.Fried pickles are home made and hand breaded. Excellent.Sweet Potato Fries had cinnamon and sugar to finish them off.I’ll definitely be back!

Boxcar y’all used to have one of the best chicken sandwiches in Charlotte. You guys definitely fell off, chicken isn’t as fresh and crispy as used to by bread and sandwich is soggy. Still have good fries. I’m honestly just disappointed used to be very good!
I have to say this is one of the best chicken sandwiches I've ever had, perfectly breaded and lightly friend. If you are in the food hall do not hesitate to get one!

The restaurant looked very unclean. The staff was to young and not professional. Food was not good at all. Very disappointed. Will not go back. Charleston SC location was nothing like Charlotte. The Charlotte location needs to take lessons from Charleston SC location.

Boxcar Betty's is one of my fav go to spots in charlotte for a quick bite with full flavor! Their boxcar chicken sandwich is chefs kiss. The pimento cheese is amazing and the chicken is fried to perfection. I love their spot in optimist hall because it's the perfect spot to have lunch at one place, grab a cocktail somewhere else, and have a dessert at one of the other vendors. The best part is you can sit inside or outside, so you can decide what you are feeling that day! The service is always friendly and attentive and quick! I would for sure give it a 10 out of 10 and highly recommend to anyone who is either visiting and needs somewhere quick to go on their lunch break or any Charlotte natives who are in the mood for a delicious chicken sandwich :)

This is a pretty large chicken sandwich. The price is steep and the customer service is poor. The girl at the counter seemed annoyed to be taking orders. The sandwich was larger than chick filet and was good over all. Not great but good. I did not try the fries (not even sure if they have them?)
