Advertise beer and mixed drinks on the menu. The girl working the register says she can’t serve it because she’s underage we ask if there is anyone that’s of age that can serve it. She’s goes back to the kitchen then returns and says that there is no one who can serve us. She was a sweet girl and it wasn’t her fault just seems like terrible management!
Completely incompetent and unprepared

I recently visited Carowinds and tried the buffalo chicken cheesesteak from Chickie’s & Pete’s. Both my friend and I ordered it, and unfortunately we were really disappointed.
It was about $15 for just the sandwich (no drink or side), and the quality didn’t match the price. The buffalo sauce wasn’t very good, and the chicken itself wasn’t great—we actually couldn’t finish it.
I understand that theme parks can get busy, but for the cost, I expected a better experience. Just wanted to share honest feedback.
I have the dining pass and got the Philly basket. The sandwhich barely had any meat on it at all, I seriously mean a comically small amount. What was there was super bland and not good at all. Fries were super dry but decently seasoned. Will never go back

Let me start by making something crystal clear: Carowinds itself deserves five stars, which I gave them years ago. My family loves the park and we were excited to be there today for opening day of the 2026 season using our Gold Passes and All-Season Dining Plan.
However, Chickie’s & Pete’s Sports Grill managed to turn what should have been a simple dinner into a condiment-related crisis that I am honestly still trying to process.
We waited through a very long opening-day line (which is understandable), ordered our meals, and sat down expecting a nice plate of fries like any normal human being would. Imagine my shock when I went to grab ketchup and discovered that every single ketchup bottle in the entire restaurant was empty or missing.
Not low.
Not temporarily out at one station.
Completely. Out. Of. Ketchup.
Naturally, I assumed this was a mistake. Surely a restaurant that serves fries with nearly every meal wouldn’t actually be out of the most basic condiment known to mankind on the very first day of the season.
So I politely asked an employee if they could grab some from behind the counter.
The response?
“We’re out.”
That’s it. No explanation. No apology. Just a casual acknowledgement that apparently nobody thought ketchup might be needed for opening day at a fry-serving restaurant.
How does this even happen? Who is in charge of inventory here? Did no one stop for two seconds during planning and think, “Hmm… people might want ketchup with fries?”
What made this even worse is that no one mentioned this when we ordered. Had they simply told us beforehand, we would have happily eaten somewhere else. Instead, we waited in line, got our food, and only then discovered that our fries were essentially condiment-orphaned.
For some people this may seem trivial. But when I decide where to eat, I mentally picture the meal I’m about to enjoy. Fries without ketchup completely destroys the expected flavor profile. It’s like serving pizza without cheese or a hot dog without a bun. The whole experience just collapses.
When I asked if there were any alternatives, I was offered barbecue sauce or buffalo sauce. I reluctantly tried the buffalo sauce and let me tell you: buffalo sauce and fries is a culinary crime.
They do offer cheese dip for fries, which would have been a perfectly reasonable substitute… except for the small detail that it costs extra. And since the line was still wrapped halfway through the restaurant, I wasn’t about to stand there for another 20 minutes just to pay additional money for something that should have been offered as a solution when they ran out of ketchup in the first place.
Again, Carowinds itself is fantastic. But Chickie’s & Pete’s might want to consider adding “buy ketchup” to their opening-day checklist next season.
Because serving fries with zero ketchup in the building is honestly one of the most baffling restaurant oversights I’ve ever seen.
Awful food and awful experience.

I got the original cheese steak sandwich with fries. The soda machines were watered down on almost every option, and the sandwich was only 6 inches despite being expensive and not saying on the menu. Sandwich was meh with a boatload of cheese sauce on top which didn't taste quite right. The seasoned krinkle cut fries were quite good and the only thing I enjoyed. Pretty unimpressed and not worth the price or using your meal plan on.

Sports bar they wouldn't let you buy beer at? Check. Dining plan options that don't include most things on the menu? Check. Dining plan combo that doesn't come with sauce? Check.
Thoroughly unimpressed. Will not go back there again.

We have the season dining pass. We decided to try Chickie's since it's included in the dining pass. When we received our food, we were mad. We only got half a sandwich even though the photo shows a full sandwich. I immediately asked for a refund, but was told I would have to go to guest services to get one, which was far from where we were. We decided to suck it up and eat the Chicken Philly (mine) and Steak Philly (husband's). I thought the cheese sauce on top was gross. The chicken was dry, though, and bland. My husband said it was OK, but he would never eat it again. I only ate the 1 bite and ended up throwing it away. The fries were pretty good. They are crinkle cut and seasoned. That's the only thing we both liked. Still would never eat there again though.

Worst theme park food I've ever had. Chicken cheese steaks were borderline inedible. Fries weren't bad. Place was filthy.

The chicken steak was ok but the chicken was dry and didn't have much taste to it. The fries was good and it had a good seasoning added to it. The ice was out on both sodas machine. There was a spill at the sodas machine. I told the gentleman who was working behind the counter but he didn't bother looking at it at all.

We bought the all day premium dining plan from Carowinds. They wouldn't take our meal plan for fries or wings apparently only a Philly cheese steak and drink. The management were rude and unempathetic. The drink machines and ice were out. It took forever to get our food. I never give bad ratings but I would give it a 0 if I could.

This place was good as well.
The Philly was small. And why do they call them crab fries? They’re just seasoned crinkle cut fries. The Philly wasn’t bad though, neither were the fries. Good for a quick bite, but pricey.
